LANSING CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP

The Institute of Internal Auditors is a 170,000 member international professional organization that meets the needs of internal auditors in more than 165 countries and territories. They are the world's leader in certification, education, research, and technological guidance for the profession. The Institute serves as the profession's watchdog and resource on significant auditing issues around the globe. The IIA also provides standards, guidance, and best practices to internal auditing practitioners, executive management, boards of directors, and audit committees. The IIA serves internal auditors through its extensive network of regional and local chapters.

The Lansing Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors was established in 1979 and currently has 119 members. We host monthly breakfast meetings where speakers discuss relevant business topics. The meetings also provide great networking opportunities for students. For more information please contact Jana Dean at [email protected].

The Lansing Chapter will award one $1,500 scholarship to a student who exhibits an interest in the internal auditing profession. The scholarship will be awarded in April 2012.

Application requirements:

1. One faculty or other business reference.

2. A 500 - 1000 word essay on the risks and exposures that an organization faces with respect to employees using social networking websites. Discuss how internal audit can effectively partner with management to identify opportunities to mitigate these risks.

3. A current transcript reflecting your student status and that you are in good academic standing.

An application form is attached to this announcement. Please forward a copy of the application and essay to Jana Dean at the address on the application form, by the due date of March 1, 2012.
