Spirit week this year ran from October 5-9th. Monday was Mix and Match day, Tuesday was Twin day, Wednesday - Hat day, Thursday -Purple and Gold day, and Friday - Dress-up day. Spirit filled students spread their spirit and dressed accordingly to each day. The Homecoming game was against Warren Fitzgerald this year. Even though the Eagles fell at 28-8 our spirits rose for the dance the following evening.

The Homecoming Theme of Disney characters was selected by the Senior class. The reason for characters instead of floats this year, was because of the delay in starting school.

Underclass characters were Freshmen: Winnie the Pooh, Sophomore: Dopey, Juniors: Dumbo, and Seniors: Mickey Mouse.

At the assembly the Student Council started the crowd off in good spirits by announcing the NHS Paper drive results. All proceeds going into the NHS scholarship fund. The first place winners were the Seniors with a grand total of 2099 inches.

Then the awaited moment arrived, announcing the underclassmen Kings & Queens, Senior Court and last but not least. Senior King and Queen.

1. The suspense is finally broken, Denise Strach, jean Cauthier, Debbie Epperson.

2. The Senior character, Mickey Mouse that took first place.

3. The first runner up was the junior character, Dumbo.

4. The Freshmen class show their spirit with Winnie-the-Pooh.

Homecoming wee/c officially started on Monday, October 6, 1981. On Tuesday the real excitement began the Homecoming Court was elected. It is a great honor to be on the Homecoming Court. Since fellow classmates elect the Senior court, it is a great honor to be selected. It is not only the senior class that makes the final decision, it is the entire student body of the school. A big congratulations to all of those who were elected.

CLASS HISTORY 1982 nhey Should've Takin' It Easy On Us" In September of 1976 It became necessary to move on. On to the "big

time," a step up, a more mature w/ay of learning and acting. Finally, the dreaded yet fascinating move to Madison High School. Were they really ready for us big 8th graders?? We were NOT little freshmen; just new occupants at Madison. Hey, wait a minute, another old building like the original Wilkinson we got rid of. It ISN'T FAIR!! Here's what they hit us with first: you must choose "chiefs." The four class "chiefs" we picked were: President - Judy McCarty, Vice President - Lisa Krajewski, Secretary - Jean Gauthier, and Treasurer - Eun Sin Yoon. The five student council "chiefs" were: Judy McCarty, Shelly Walker, Mike Mignogna, Lisa Krajewski, and Denise Peavler. With our selected chiefs we were informed that we had to build a float. How? Where?? With What??? And worst of all (little did we know then that we would be haunted by this problem) how do we pay for It???? IT ISN'T FAIR. Through many hard nights we managed to create what they called a "typical" freshmen float. It was small and carried out the theme of an eagle kicking the other teams' mascot through the goal posts. Nobody even gave us a measley amount of credit. IT ISN'T FAIR! To ride on our float, we selected Royalty. We elected a King - Wayne Waldrup & Queen - Judy McCarty. After all this, we were told we had to raise money ... again. How were we going to do this when everybody already had the money-making schemes monopolized?! IT ISN'T FAIR! The rest of the year was spent in deep thought.

This 2nd year found us — again selecting "chiefs," they were President -Judy McCarty, Vice-President - Jean Gauthier, Secretary - Ann Mazurco, and Treasurer - Lori Haggerty. This time we had a little luck from somewhere. But where did it come from? For example, throughout football season we consistently won the so-called "spirit stick." Was this great? The Seniors (of that year, 1980) always seemed pretty upset. Or were they just telling us we had big mouths? Anyway, WE won. We also snatched a 2nd place for our float right out of the hands of the Junior Class of 1981. And our royalty; King - Bruce Smith and Queen - Jean Gauthier honored it well. But lady luck was just grinning at us. What did she have in store for us next? We were told we had to raise money for a Junior/Senior Prom we had to sponsor in our Junior year.

But we were broke! What were we supposed to do? Anyways, we needed to add some class to our "CLASS." This came about with the ordering of our rings. This all went very smoothly. Lady luck still had a grin. After this we had to go back to the money making situation. Next, we consulted with the "Chief, chiefs" our sponsors — Max Hoffman and Harmond Webb. It was decided that we would take orders for hats. But, little did we know that the price would go up and the delivery date moved forward to the following school year. IT ISN'T FAIR!

After our disappointing set-back with the hat situation, we started our third year selecting a few new "chiefs"; Presiderit - Judy McCarty, Vice-President - Lorrie Phillips, Secretary - Denise Strach and Treasurer -Chris Stevens. Then a whole new line of Student Council "Chiefs" - Eun Sin Yoon, Shelly Walker, Ann Mazurco, Jean Gauthier and Lori Haggerty. When least expected all of our hats we had been eagerly waiting for arrived. We went to each person who ordered a hat almost half a year ago and tried to sell them their rightfully ordered hats. They looked at us like we were out of our minds. I don't want any hat, you're crazy! So here we're stuck with about a $1500.00 debt. What are we going to do?! IT ISN'T FAI R! On to building our togetherness float. We put the hats away for now. We'll try again later. Anyway we had this great brainstorm of an Eagle and its nest. The dimensions were 9 feet tall and 7 feet wide. What a float! Our best creation yet. We thought we had this contest wrapped up. But wait, here comes the sophomores dinky float. What, what is it? A bicycle chain cranking around? Who know's what the rest of it is, no one is able to make it out. Anyways, ours is an excellent creation in all the meaning of a FLOAT. But what happens? The sophomores practically stole 1st right from us and they class us in 2nd with the Seniors half-done float, that ISN'T FAIR!

Entering our fourth and final year we found ourselves deeply in debt. But how did we manage this asked our new "Chief, Chiefs" Mary Banka and Dave Warren. First, a new set of Chiefs were selected: President -Wendy Walker, Vice-President - Debbie Epperson, Secretary - Denise Strach, Treasurer - Rob Robinson, and Historian - Mike Mignogna. With the strike setting back opening day, we had to rush to put on the Homecoming Dance. This turned out excellently. But there was a flaw, we had no floats. Therefore, we made little characters for the gym. IT ISN'T FAIR!!! Anyway, our character captured a well deserved first place -finally! But our King - Bruce Ball and Queen - Denise Strach had nothing to ride upon. And the court Dale Daubenmeyer, Jean Gauthier, Wayne Waldrup, Eun Sin Yoon, Tom Morrison, Debbie Epperson, Mike Mognogna and Shelly Pietroski supported our royalty through it all. Though we made money on the dance, we still had some "red-tape". To overcome this we sold flower messages for Sweetest Day, T-Shirts, Valentine candy messages, and Graduation Tassels. All of this covered our debt and gave us enough money left over to buy Graduation flowers for Baccalaureate June 6, 1982, and Commencement June 8, 1982. Following these great events is the All-Nlght Party. Preceeding Graduation were Senior Wills, receiving our long-awaited yearbooks, and Prom which was May 7, 1982. After winding up with a super SENIOR year and receiving our diplomas, we have the long awaited freedom. But freedom where, to a great recession? What are we supposed to do now? IT ISN'T FAIR. The whole racket was not fair

I but we TRULY ENJOYED the MEMORABLE YEARS. See y'all in 5 I years!

The Music Department is always doing something, whether it is concerts, half-time shows, assemblies, competition, Fall-a-Fair, or fruit sales. It seems to fill in a certain gap, here at Madison. It is just something about that particular department that is special. Maybe it is because everyone in the entire school cannot be in there, we have to have a certain kind of talent. We also have to be able to put in extra hours and extra effort. The students that belong to this department really stand out.

1. Kris Dorja^ plays the piano while his class sings along.

The Library has a new librarian this year, Jane Dzuirda. Adjusting to the size as well as the students was a big difference from the elementary school that she was a librarian at before. Not only was there a change in faces but a change in the operation of things in the library, it is now easier to find things. She has helped everyone a great deal since her arrival.

Most people would think it was a fairly easy job working in a school cafeteria. But what most people don't realize is that they have to wake up pretty early in the morning, and plan on working continuously throughout the day. Besides making the entire school lunch, they also help out on Tuesdays when Student Council has their weekly donut sale. Some of them even come on their own time and help out our annual sports banquets. These ladies take the cake.

The First Annual

1982 Not since 1969 has Madison High School had any sort of "teacher of the year"

award. Each year, outstanding seniors, athletes and underclassmen are honored. The 1982 Madisonian staff would like to institute an annual award for an outstanding teacher. We have named it appropriately: the GOLDEN APPLE AWARD. To be eligible, the person must teach at least one class at Madison High School and be nominated in writing by a student. The winner's name will be engraved on a permanent plaque and presented at the National Honor Society's Honors Night, May.25, 1982.

The 1982 Madisonian staff takes great pleasure in announcing the winner of the first annual Golden Apple Award - Mr. Kenneth Burgess of the Science Department. Congratulations!

Kenneth Burgess has been an active teacher in the Madison District since 1965. A native of Lansing, Michigan, Mr. Burgess has repeatedly demonstrated his commitment to the students of Madison High School. A well-rounded individual, he has managed to combine the roles of the classroom teacher, extra-curricular sponsor, avid Eagle supporter and friend. "Fair, honest and right there to help you if you have a problem with anything" was how one student described Mr. Burgess. Whether teaching physics, chemistry or introductory science, "he is one of the best teachers in the school." Sponsor of the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, his influence extends beyond the classroom into student's lives away from Madison.

Long to be remembered by all of the students he has touched, Mr. Burgess said it best himself - "Challenging students with new information and seeing the students learn this knowledge by means of lab situations, demonstrations, films, work-sheets and tests are my greatest satisfactions."

Madison's Aquila Staff, consisting of thirty-one people this year, has one basic goal: to make sure that an issue of the Aquila is published every month.

Working together a very congenial group writes the school news, pastes the copy and handles the sale of the paper. Meanwhile an equally hard working group canvasses the neighborhood for ads to finance the paper, which is becoming more and more difficult in these inflationary times. The Aquila photographer develops his own pictures in the darkroom at the W. Middle School, and the staff boasts several talented artists.

The entire paste-up of the paper is done in the journalism classroom, under the supervision of co-editors Chris Kaczor and Mike Bush.

The Bio Ecology Club has a new and experienced crew of leaders for the 1981-82 year. The officers were elected in the spring of 1981, and for being all juniors, the officers have picked up quickly and have given the club a head start for the 1982-83 year.

All members do their part in club organization. Dues were always up-to-date and candy sales were a success. Money raised goes to the restoration of-the courtyard and feeding the animals that live there. Donations are given to the jacque Cousteau Fund, Save the Seals, and to The Save The Whales Fund as well. These are deserving causes and with the help of the Bio Ecology Club, nature and wildlife can be preserved.

Future Teachers are a group of students headed by Mrs. Hautimaki that work with and teach younger students in the district. The members give their time and energy to help students while at the same time, they gain experience at various levels of teaching. This experience gives the members a real sense of what teaching is all about and may help them in whatever career choice they make.

Teaching is not the most popular occupational choice today, but it gives the members the chance to express their abilities.

What would half-time be like without Madison's faithful Marching Band out on the field? That is a question that nobody who attends Madison's football games should ever have to ask. The Marching Band works very hard to present us an enjoyable half-time show. The actual work begins Labor Day weekend, which is the beginning of a five day band camp. During football season they practice every school day and even some evenings, which is a lot of time to put into a maximum 15 minute show. Mr. Moore is very proud of his marching band - with good reason.

She Walks In Beauty

She walks in beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies,

And all that's best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes;

Thus mellowed to that tender light

Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade more, one ray the less.

Had half impared the nameless grace

Which waves in every raven tress

Or softly lightens o'er her face.

Where thoughts serenely sweet express

How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

You made the world a brighter place,

we miss the smile upon your face.

This years swim team led by captains, senior, Tricia Johnstone, junior Theresa Oparka and junior Sue Grace, stroked to one of the best league meets in 5 years. The personalities of each of the members, combined made them very close friends.

Because of our friendships we were very supportive of each other. We didn't win very many meets but we had a successful season because we all tried our very best to make our team No. 1. And we were!

Led by first-year coachi Mike Kaufman, the j.V. wrestlers had a season of improvement. With a team much larger than last years, they showed immense growth from the season's beginning. "Are these feet happy or what?!?" Within those few little words lie the reasons for the Varsity Volleyball team's exciting, enjoyable, and often successful season. Lady Gayle Gillett's razor sharp squad slashed a few teams and nicked a few others to end up with a final record of 10-7.

With only three returning letter winners the Eaglettes had to work hard to put the right combination of people together. Co-captain Cindy saw to it that every combination would work and everyone would have fun too - including the fans!

A real highlight of the season was having Cindy Brown named to the M.O.A.C. all conference 1st team and Cindy Birtles to 2nd team.

Three pairs of Sophomore feet, four pairs of Junior feet and two pair of Senior feet: happied together for a season that avoided de-feet!!

The J.V. Volleyball team has a new coach this year, Marie Haggerty. Although there were not many players on the team they still put all their effort into winning. Of course, in the beginning of the year they had to get used to the difference of coaching style, but they pulled through as a team. The team did considerably well for the unexperience players that they had. Unlike other J.V. teams this team set the ball up more often, which is a good asset. It gives them the experience they need, when playing in the future.

The Eagle stands its constant guard before the school atop a high perch. It symbolizes Madison High School and the soaring accomplishments of its students. Thus, the Eagle was chosen in 1970 as the symbol of the Madisonian Hall of Fame. Each year, outstanding seniors are nominated by faculty members and their names added to a distinguished list of predecessors. To be considered, the individual must not only be of high character and scholastic attainment but also active in school affairs.

Chosen as the motto for the Hall of Fame is the title inscription from the 1966 Madisonian yearbook written by Miss Patricia Smith - ''The energy of the eagle inspires us to rebuff the big winds, to rise on the wings of change, to soar toward the sun." We are proud to announce that those students for 1982 are Cindy Brown, Michael Bush, Jean Gauthier, Ann Mazurco, Michael Mignogna, Philip Needham and Fun Sin Yoon.

"Ever-active" aptly describes this Hall of Fame inductee. Selected by her fellow seniors as the "Wild & Craziest," this young lady's out-going personality often belies her serious commitment to excellence. Cindy Brown exemplifies the caliber of the Madisonian Hall of Fame. A four-year letter winner in volleyball, Cincty has been a member of the track team, German Club, the Yearbook staff. Art Club, junior year as the secretary; the National Honor Society, senior year as the historian; and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In the community, Cindy has given of herself working as a volunteer at Vacation Bible School and tutoring at the Boy's Club of Royal Oak. Madison's loss will be Oakland Michigan University's gain after graduation. Planning to major in some area of bio-logical science, surely Cindy Brown will continue with her pursuit of excellence.

Four years and many classes later, this Hall of Fame inductee has the honor and distinction of graduating with a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Valedictorian of the Class of 1982, Michael Bush is certainly an example of the well-rounded individual. A four-year letterman in both football and basketball, Mike has also been a member of the Spanish Club, the National Honor Society and a member of the Aquila staff, this year as co-editor. Outside of school, Mike has been equally involved. Whether coaching T-ball, elementary basketball or working, he has always been a credit to his community, school, family and self. Graduation will bring a new beginning at the University of Michigan with a major in engineering. Sure to do well in any endeavor, Michael Bush has earned his place of honor in the Madisonian Hall of Fame.

With a flash of activity, this Hall of Fame inductee always seems to be on the move. A leader in numerous organizations, Jean Gauthier has definitely earned her Hall of Fame nomination. She has served the Class of 1982 as the Secretary of her freshman year and Vice-President of her sophomore year. Not content, Jean has been a cheerleader four years, captaining the senior squad this year, and served the entire school as president of the Student Council. Also a member of the basketball team, art club, the National Honor Society, and co-editor of this Madisonian, Jean has further served the community as a tutor at the Boy's Club of Royal Oak and leader of the Youth Group at St. Vincent's Church. The recipient of a full four-year scholarship to Wayne State University, Jean Gauthier plans to pursue a career in the bio-logical and/or medical field. Her place of distinction in the Madisonian Hall of Fame is indeed deserved.

Page 215: 1982 Madison Year Book

Twirling her way through four-years of half-time shows hasn't dampened the spirit of this Hall of Fame inductee. Captain of the Majorettes, Ann Mazurco has been an active leader at Madison. An officer in every organization she has been a member of, Ann has been a true inspiration. Secretary of her sophomore class, co-editor of this Madisonian, secretary of the National Honor Society and secretary of Student Council, Ann has surely given of herself to others. Selected by her fellow seniors as the ''Most Organized," it's not difficult to see the need for this attribute. In her "spare time," Ann has been a volunteer secretary for the Adult Education program. Planning to attend Oakland Michigan University next fall, Ann will major in psychology. Four years of service to her school and fellow students has earned Ann Mazurco a place in the Madisonian Hall of Fame.

Selected as the "most organized" by his fellow seniors, this Hall of Fame inductee has attended college as a full-time student and remained an active leader in several organizations while successfully completing high school. Michael Mignogna has surely earned his Hall of Fame nomination. A four-year tennis letterman, Mike has also been a member of the Spanish Club, the Yearbook staff, the National Honor Society, a Student Council representative and Historian of the Senior Class. Outside of school he has been a league bowler and a player for the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association. Planning to attend Wayne State University after graduation, Mike is leaning toward a career in either computer science or aviation. No matter which he selects, Michael Mignogna has demonstrated his ability to take-charge and succeed in whatever he attempts.

'7teee(6a»K Anticipating an appointment to the U.S. Naval

Academy, this Hall of Fame inductee also has earned the honor of representing the Class of 1982 as its Salutato-rian with a near perfect 3.99 gpa. Selected by his fellow seniors as "the most respected," "most conservative" and "most studious," Philip Needham is, indeed, a credit to the city of Madison Heights and himself. Active in both athletics and extra-curricular activities, Phil has been a member of the track, cross country and wrestling teams; the Bio-Ecology Club and vice-president of the National Honor Society. Not content with all of the above, he has been a Madison Heights Police Explorer and an acolyte at St. Margaret's Church where he is also employed. Planning to study engineering along with military science at Annapolis, Philip Needham confers great respect to the Madisonian Hall of Fame.

SuK Sat

Musical talent is one of the many attributes of this Hall of Fame inductee. A member of the Marching, Symphonic, and Stage Bands at Madison, she has also played with the city of Madison Heights jazz Ensemble, receiving numerous awards and certificates in competition. Selected by her fellow seniors as the "Most Likely to Succeed" and "Most Studious," Eun Sin Yoon has earned her nomination to the Madisonian Hall of Fame. Academically a leader, Eun Sin is the president of the National Honor Society and vice-president of Student Council. Also a member of the German Club, she served the Class of 1982 as its treasurer of her freshman year. President of her church youth group, Eun Sin has also been a volunteer tutor at the Boy's Club of Royal Oak. Upon graduation, Eun Sin plans to attend the University of Michigan and major in a predental program. Without a doubt she will "most likely succeed."

CLAS. Chris Kaczor here reporting live for the Detroit Free Press. I'm in Detroit next to the Scott Beyer Complex (formerly the Joe Louis Arena), to investigate a strange battleship that arrived at the Bob-Lo docks this morning. Rumor has it that the famed Madison class, of 1982 is having its 10th year class reunion. Now, lets go on board and meet the captain.

We find Captain Philip Byron John Needham, owner of this great vessel, at the bridge. "Captain, who are those young sailors in front of all those controls?" That's Chief Petty officers Robert Crandall and John Helvey. They're steering the ship. "Watch out for icebergs, men!" Since the great depression of 1986 Captain Needham has generously given many unemployed Madison graduates jobs. From up here on the bridge we are able to see many of the workers making preparations for tonights reunion. Over there on the bow, I see Tammy Somers in her Yankee jersey, Jeff Justice and John Bryson swabbing the deck.

On the starboard side of the ship we see Cathy Addison, Denise Peavler, Lorrie Heath and Debbie Brehmer using semaphore code to flag down a yacht full of young bachelors. What's that noise? "Caw, Caw, Caw!!" Sounds like Tom Knoppe has arrived early and has found his way to the crows nest. There goes Kim Helton, Mary Fabrizio and Debbie Clapper in their FarrelTs apparel, climbing up the crows' next ladder. It looks like they finally have him trapped. And look over there on top of the gun barrel, its Gordy Russ Dract icing up on his juggling. He has to do a little bit of juggling to become the International Director of the Boy's Club.

Since there's about an hour before the reunion Captain Needham has volunteered to give us a tour. Our first stop is the officer's club. Lets go inside and see who's arrived. Sitting at the bar is Denise Strach, Judy McCarty and Debbie Beyer (formerly Epperson). The bartenders are Jim Hartwick, Dave Rector and Neil Adkins yelling "Drinks on the Captain." Now rushing in is Gary Killgore, Kim Howard, Barry Kish and Angle Jenkins, Lets get out of here before the big crowd comes in. Now lets move on to the galley and see how the food preparations are coming along. We have an abundance of different foods that will be served tonight.

Taking care of the superburgers are Renee Jacisin, Brian Nunley and Cathy Rasnake. Hey, looks like Patricia Johnstone and Daljeet Heer are whipping up another pizza-pizza. Kathy Provencher is preparing an exquisite Lobster dinner, and Scott Szeliga is frying up another herd of chicken. Dianna Trullard, Joanne Corazza and Shirley Cottongim are in charge of the coffee. They offer Captain Needham a freshly brewed cup, "What's wrong with this coffee, it tastes like mud." "Maybe because it was ground this morning," answers the cooks. What a line up of chefs and "kooks."

What's next on the tour Captain? "It's the engine room." Oh, that sounds terribly interesting. As we approach the engine room Bill Wells and Vince Meizys pass us saying something about, this "old tin can." Take it easy captain. What is that crowd forming over there? Oh, that's just Brad Barnard telling Tim Markstrom, Julie Girtman, Chris Yarber, Scott Polonis, Jeff Knight and Ron Robtoy how much bigger, better, faster, stronger and more expensive HIS fleet of ships are compared to the Captain's.

214

Over on the other side of the room is Chief Mechanic Gary Foehl complaining about some missing tools. Mark Boles, Duam Galloway, Mike Butcher, Griffin Moran, Mike Burgess, Rich Cross, and Darryl Thornton are debating if they should jack the back of the ship up or take the engine apart. Dave and Tony La Vearn say that we should have open headers on the ship.

Now lets visit the office area before the festivities begin. There's Terry Zgliczynski (formerly Dodge) making the final typing errors (or corrections) for tonights guest list. Helping her is Robin Beasley, Cora Gouine, Vickie Bucy, Suzanne Phillips, Amy Priester, Shelly Bowles and Teresa McCown from the J.L. Hawkins Company Inc., they are taking a coffee break.

"Captain Needham, what is all that smoke in the gangway up ahead, is it a fire?" No, that's just Bill Berry, Jeff Dove, Jackie DeLuca, Jeff Crosse, Roben Dwyer, Tonyia Koury and Larry Rangus breaking In the new latrines. "What does that sign say above the latrine door?" "YOU'RE IN THE NA VYNOW." Letsgo up on deck and watch the party begin.

"Attention, Attention, all hands on deck, 10 minutes until party time, "bellows first mate Robert Tippit over the P. A. First to arrive is Wendy Walder, famous ERA administrator, next to her is Robert Robinson owner of a chain of Soft Ball cities, leading the way as usual. Following them are Jodi Sheatzley and Steve Poniewierski, Mr. Universe from 1986 to 1991.

Tonights festivities will start with a get together of old friends, Hilton owner Tammy Vail and Mar riot owner Coreen Stewart. Next we'll be having dinner, buffet style. After dinner, the entertainment will include a Variety Show, a Fashion Show and ending with a dance. The dance will feature the hit band "The Seven Frogs and the Wart," just back from their Siberian tour.

Some guests have just arrived. Lorraine Querry and her husband Quincy Jr., have just pulled up in their hearse. Their company slogan is "We will be the last ones to let you down." Arriving now in a taxi cab is Chris Wishart, I guess he never got his driver's license back. Over there is Cindy Brown, Olympic Volleyball star, coasting into the parking lot. Looks like she ran out of gas again. Well, the crowd is starting to thicken, lets go see what some of the guests are up to. There's Tom Schaefers, he's up to 6 foot. Novelist Mike Dee I is sitting next to gossip columnist Kim Fielder, chatting as usual. He is still on the second page of his novel. He says he philosophizes in his spare time.

There gathered by the rail is Brenda Waters, Anita Herron, jean Purugganan and Pat Hakola catching up on the latest gossip. "Did you hear about Alice Sikora's phobia? Being an optometrist she is afraid of falling into her lens grinder and making a spectable of herself "

Something exciting is going on over near the anchor. Looks like Tom Ke I en ski, Ed Frey, Gary Piccinini, Khairi Kalasho, Tom Morrison and Dale Daubenrpeyer are having an anchor-llfting-a-thon. So far they have raised 1,992 pounds. Too bad they're not in England. Wow, look over there by the door! It's Pat Wiener, Dan Howie and Vernon Shurtz dueling it out with the brand new 4- dimensional nuclear powered Thompson cube.

1

Page 221: 1982 Madison Year Book

PROPHECY Created by none other than nuclear physicist Wayne Thompson.

"Well, I'm getting a little hungry. Captain, lets go down to the

mess hall." Look how nice the decorations and flowers are for the

dinner. They were custom made by Cindy Birtles and the Collius

sisters (Rhonda and Chris) Inc. It is an honor to sit at the Captain's

table with such prolific movie stars as Jeff Constable and Ron

Brown. The famous stunt man Kelly Peasley and Prima Ballerina

Jennifer Rippey Baryshnikov are here also. Supplying the

refreshments are Deanna Pabst, Angle Miller and Mike Busch!

It looks like most the the guests have arrived, so lets start eating.

Say, who is over there sitting next to Dr. Eun Sin Yoon? Oh, that

is her husband, a guy named Hung One, his brother was Hung Two.

Sitting over at the reserve tables are our classy sponsors Dave

barren and Mary Banka. Mr. Warren has just returned from Spain

after taking a six-year work study program only to come back to

Madison and find out he is now going to be teaching Journalism.

Mrs. Banka is hovering over her J992 yearbook, the deadline is

tomorrow. Recording this great event on film is NOT Craine and

Williams, it is Mark Kimble, Lori Phillips and Lori Haggerty. Saad

Kelna stands up in his chair and says, "Chuck Warren could not

come to dinner because he got real sick and threw up." It looks

like every one has lost their appetite since Saad brought up Chuck.

Now that dinner has ended, it looks like the entertainment is

starting. The Master of Ceremonies for tonight's Variety Show is

the Immensely popular Jim Saloka known world wide as the

successor of Wolf Man Jack. Our first act tonight will be comedians

Kao Thao and Kurt Kantzer. Kao has worked as an apprentice to

johnny Yo for the last three years and has just started out on his

own. Oh no, looks like there will be a delay, the stage lights have

gone out. Tom Zgliczynski, Robert Wallace and Tony Kowaleski

are going up to help out with the electrical stuff.

Since we have a break in the action, lets sit back and see who

snuck In late. Business associates Cherri To ma son, Angle Hensley

and Karen Myke are plowing through another transaction. Hey

there's Tiger Baseball broadcasters Dave Relph and Joe Enochs

coming in after finishing up today's doubleheader. Joe is trying to

sell Connie Evans and Angela Lewis his autograph. Some people

look quite older after 10years. But some people don't seem to age

at all, for example Deana Young. Just strolling in now after

finishing No. 7 and No. 2 in the Michigan "500" are Scott Holland

and Mark Tuttle. Oh, there goes the lights. Quick look over there in

the front, it's Jill and Rusty Suiter, we caught them in the act.

The second act is one that is known throughout the

neighborhood. They are the "White Trotters." They consist of

halfback Bruce Ball, first baseman Randy Bonday, right wing David

Ahlfleld, mid-fielder Emory Colley, goalie Wayne Waldrup, and the

renowned star of the team that plays all positions is Shelly Walker

and left out is David Coke we I I. They have made sacrifices in their

schedule to perform tonight.

Next we have a really big shoe (size 24 to be exact). Straight off

of Broadway are the dancing "Sprockets." The dancers are Anita

ShaonI, Tammy Longoria, Cheryl Behuhn, Tina Sokolowski and

Laurie Studer. The lead dancer and manager is none other than

Lynn Herron. The act that you have all been waiting for is about t

begin "The Great Gordini" will amaze your eyes and dazzle you

senses. He will also boggle your mind by the method he uses t

shoot straws into the balcony. Gordini's magical assistants ai

Kathy Hoi I is and Debbie Duwe. WOW! WHAT A SHOW!

After a short intermission, the fashion show will begin. I wc

just told that Scott Geering and Sabrina Buhl were up on the dec

practicing their sprints for the Olympic Games. Some say that the

are just trying to keep up with the Jones, Todd and Gaye.

The Fashion Show is just about to begin. The sponsors an

designers for the clothes being modeled for tonight are Cassa an

Pietroski Ltd. Miss Pietroski is also the multi-million do Ik

diamond mine in the Congo. The models for tonight are, as if the

weren't famous, Lori Taylor, Mona Somoskey, Sandy Browi

Sharon Stone and Denise Strach. Pam Ruble and Kath

Accomando were the hair stylists for tonight's models.

Sounds like the band is warming up and ready to kick out tl

jams for this rockin'-rollin' bunch of people. Our band for tonigi

is the uncomparable "Seven Frogs and The Wart." On lead a

guitar and back-up vocalist will be Don Morrison, on the electr

bagpipes will be Mike Krstich, on the drums will be Sean Rice, c

bass guitar will be David Olson, on light and sound synthesizers w.

be Chuck Brehmer, on the bubble clarinet will be Tammy Hale^

lead vocalist will be Laurie Zysk, and the leader, playing evei

other instrument you can think of is, drum roll please, (Rc

Vickers rolls a drum across the stage) Tim Diaz.

They are playing their favorite song, "Croak All Night", and tl

dance floor is going crazy. Oh no, Sharlene Mounts has stepped c

Richard Moore's foot. Quick, take him to the sick bay where Kii

Bryant, Lillian Phillips and Pat Collom can put a body cast on hir

McCormick says that she has been to bigger, better and mo.

exciting parties than this one. "We've given better parties ourselve

we just can't remember them," says George Trullard and Kan

Reppenhagen.

Towards morning as the guns calm down, the powder clears, ar

the sun slowly rises a crisp new day begins. Captain Needham too

his whistle and we set sail on the Senior Cruise that we did m

have. This is Chris Kaczor, on the Detroit River, reporting live ft

We'd like to thank our parents Mom DeLuc, Jo Mamma, and Jo Pappa McCart, our sisters and brothers too, especially Carl, who is a whiz at Biology, we wouldn't have made it without you. Also we'd like to thank Mr. J, Mrs. Lepage "The Piscean", Max, Mr. Sexy Murie, our teachers, and Noah, if it wasn't for you we wouldn't No-Ah nothing. And most of all our crazy friends, whom without, we wouldn't be crazy. If your worried about you're future, don't be.

There are only two things to worry about: Either you are well or you are sick. If you are well, then there is nothing to worry about; but if you are sick, there are two things to worry about; either you get well or you will die. If you die, there are only two things to worry about; either you will go to Heaven or Hell. If you go to Heaven, there is nothing to worry about; but if you go to Hell, you'll be so Damn busy shaking hands with friends, you won't have time to worry!

We have made it! It's been fun but let's not do it agam.

Love, JackJud-MerJean-McCartDeLuc alias "Jackie DeLuca and Judy McCarty."

It may be the end of this book... the end of this year, and the end of the seniors of '82.

But it's not the end of the memories; those insecure moments that suddenly become ''the good old days."

It's not the end of the education; the learning process that has just begun-for freshmen and seniors alike.

It's the beginning -Of a journey to experience Life ... Of a lifetime to prove your worth ... Of a one-time-only chance to take your Faith, your fortune, and your knowledge and make something of yourself. Take that chance -Cherish it! Enjoy it! Don't Stop Believin' It

To a special friend Mary Banka; we would like to thank you for your hard work and long hours which made this book possible.
