1 ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION Br #480 MINOR HOCKEY PEE-WEE CHAMPIONSHIPS AND BANQUET April 1975 AND 1976 For several years, Branch #480 sponsored Minor Hockey House League games played in Laroche Park, Ottawa. Tom Brown, a Br #480 member was very active in local sports and was instrumental in having a sports arena built locally (141 Bayview Rd) with the help of Branch #480.; the arena being named in his honour, the Tom Brown Arena which is still very active. Tom’s nephew Keith is also a long-time member of Br#480 and has been a leader with his uncle, Tom, in local sports. After Tom passed away, Keith continued local sports leadership and augmented his activities with those previously led by his uncle. Keith has also served as Sergeant-at-arms at Br#480 and continues to help with Bingo. Keith involved Br#480 and its colour party for official events such as the opening game of the season. Branch #480 always hosted the hockey awards banquet at the end of each playing season. Unfortunately, the photos shown here are quite small and make identification difficult. This particular event took place in the McNabb Arena, before the Tom Brown Arena was built. For several years, Branch #480 sponsored Minor Hockey House League games played in Laroche Park, Ottawa.
