On 22 January 1971, Jordi Costa, 20 years old, opened the gallery Taller de Picasso. The first exhibition showed Pablo Picasso's artworks. Picasso On 25 October 1971, the Mayor of Barcelona, José María Porcioles, inaugurated a commemorative plaque in the gallery Taller de Picasso about the first workshop of Pablo Picasso in Barcelona. On 22 November 1971, Taller de Picasso suered an attack with explosives and was destroyed in the context of a wave of acts against cultural centers in Spain. In 1975 a dossier about the attacks was published and the artist group Colectivo de Cine Alternativo filmed 'A book is a weapon' (1975). Jordi Costa explains the attack in that film. Censorship Jordi Costa and Taller de Picasso responded to the violence in that time with the only weapon they had: the Culture. Not only the gallery had suered an attack with explosives in 1971. The artistic director of Taller de Picasso was also attacked. The international press reported attacks. A year later, in 1972,'1er Rencontre international d'hommage à Picasso’ was organized in Vallauris (France), from 25 September to 5 November, in response to the violent attack on Taller de Picasso in 1971. At the same time, between 19 October and 14 November 1972, the artist Joan Cruspinera presented in the gallery Taller de Picasso an exhibition in honor of Pablo Picasso. He illustrated texts by Rafael Alberti, Raimon Ovidi Montllor and Pi de la Serra. Cruspinera created in that moment a poster to commemorate the 91st anniversary of Pablo Picasso.
