This spring eight conference schools will meet at Oregon College for

the championship and the title will be hard to capture. Eastern Washington and

Eastern Oregon look like possible champions with CWSC still in the favorite

role.

Returning from last year's fine Team are eighteen lettermen and some

of them are top performers. Dave Walker, Roy Nail and Dick Bedlington took

four titles last spring. Steve Slavens was 2md in 100 and 220 behind Tom Lines

of Central. Terry Kelly will try to repeat in the steeplechase along with Ed

Davis and Ray Columbo who won the high jump and pole vault respectively.

New wildcats have excellent credentials from Green River c.c., ,we have

Mike Behrbaum who does several events including long jump of 24 1 2" and 53.7 in

intermediate hurdles. Terry Sayles ran 48.6 in the quarter. Terry Woodard

from Clark has run 9.7 and led o1f the state championship 440 relay team. Tacoma

c.c. sent Dave Morris a 15 foot vaulter and Terry Rice,a miler. Terry BoucK

is a 14 1 3" vaulter from Highline and Bill Bloom was our best cross country runner

from Spokane Falls. Two frosh jumpers are Craig Jones of Hudson Bay and Rod

Jeske of EllensburgLo•IC G-oes>D·

A team is as good as its relays and Central Washington has potential.

Behrbaum, Woodard, Slavens, Walker, Volland, Sayles, Nail and Swisher could

put together good relay teams. The scheol records of 41.2 and 3:12.8 could

easily fall.
