Decades of Design
1970s
-
The events of the time were
reflected in and became the
inspiration for much of the
literature, entertainment, interior
design, advertising and even
fashion of the decade.
The events of the 1960's,
including war and social change,
seemed destined to continue in
the 70's. Advances in civil rights,
increased influence of the
women's movement, the
introduction of the new man, a
heightened concern for the
environment, and space
exploration were all topical
issues.

This was probably the first era
to have seen the explosion of
diets and low calorie food.
Interior design was still
influenced by the
psychedelic 60’s but had
evolved into a more modern
and organic look.
