Pointing the Pin: Over 15,000 “JIM Pins” have traveled the world, originally in evangelistic campaigns & for the last 60 years, through The Boys JIM Club of America. Preserving the Vision: In 1954 the engineer’s son, Jimmie Davis, founded “The Boys JIM Club of America ” for pre-teen Christian boys with especially tender hearts. He said, “It is better to build boys than mend men.” Jimmie died in 1981, but the founding principles have been maintained: free leadership training that is conservative, evangelical & practical for personal & public life. Finding the Boy: Jimmie invited boys he met in his evangelistic ministry from California to New York. We now rely on 500 “recruiters” across North America to recommend new campers. These are people who know both the prospective boys and our program well. Can you recommend such a boy? Crystallizing the Mission: JIM Club in 10 words: “Discipling boys to love Jesus deeply and express Him vividly” Expanding the Reach: In 1954, JIM Clubbers hailed from about 15 American states. By 2014, there are JIM Clubbers in 46 states, 8 Canadian provinces, & 20 foreign countries.

He said, “It is better to build boys than mend men.” Jimmie died in 1981, but the founding principles have been maintained: free leadership training that is

conservative, evangelical & practical for personal & public life.

Finding the Boy: Jimmie invited boys he met in his evangelistic ministry from California to New York. We now rely on 500 “recruiters” across North America to recommend new campers. These are people who know both the

prospective boys and our program well. Can you recommend such a boy?

Crystallizing the Mission: JIM Club in 10 words:

“Discipling boys to love Jesus deeply and express Him vividly”

Expanding the Reach: In 1954, JIM Clubbers hailed from about 15 American states. By 2014, there are JIM Clubbers in 46 states, 8 Canadian provinces, & 20 foreign countries.

Conceiving an Idea: In the 1930’s Jim Davis, a rough, “grizzly bear” railway engineer, converted to Christ & became a soft, shy believer. To open the door for witness, he created a “JIM Pin”. When asked why he wore it on his greasy overalls, he said, “J stands for Jesus, I stands for Is and M stands for Mine. Jesus is mine – is He yours?”

Broadening the Skills: Not only helping boys develop inner life strengths of faith & character, but also varied outward communication skills. Jimmie Davis taught boys skills he used in ministry: preaching, gospel magic, music, song-leading, & personal evangelism. Now, boys also have electives in ventriloquism, dramatic monologues, juggling, mime, ballooning, & Bible chapter recitation.

Leaders Leading Leaders: 98% of our counselors are

young men who began as JIM Club campers. We have

a 3:1 ratio of campers to counselors. The entire staff

– counselors, adult staff, director – are volunteer.

Improving the Facilities: The original “Big Red House” of 1954 is now surrounded by a little “town” of buildings: Dining/Meeting Hall, Office, Recport, Work Barn, Sports Barn, Basketball Court, Dormitory, Store & “The Burrows”.

Continuing by Faith: We are faith-based in 2 senses:

1] Our values are based on faith in God. 2] We trust in God for resources & finances.

Singing the Theme: This year’s song-theme is “By Faith”.

“We will stand as children of the promise. We will fix our eyes on Him, our soul's reward,

Till the race is finished & the work is done, We'll walk by faith & not by sight.”

(by Keith & Kristyn Getty & Stuart Townend)

The Hebrew letter Samekh has a numeric value of 60. It means to lean upon or support.

God is faithful to support us as we, by faith, lean upon Him.

Funding without “Raising”: We do not use professional fund-raisers, but gifts always meet needs. Parents give. Alumni invest in the camp that invested in them. Churches give as missions. An

unusual gift may come as a bequest or grant. Some donors are simply people who hear about the ministry & see its value.

All gifts to The Boys JIM Club of America receive an American or Canadian tax receipt.
