Opening Prayer: Holy One, Your great mystery holds all life, Unfolding with faith and in trust, We respond to Your call in Christ, A call to simplicity and action, One that brings us together and then sends us out. In this time we share, help us to be present and attentive. If there is anything distracting us, set us free from it, If we carry any heavy burdens, set them down for us, If we are blocked from Your love, remove the barrier, If worry grabs hold of us, pry open its grip, So that we may be open to receive Your healing and hope… (Silent Prayer)

Words of Hope and Healing (adapt. II Corinthians 4)

The GO Project Children's Adventure Camp had a great time this week! Our 15 campers explored the loaves and fishes story while serving the Stratford community and learning about how they can make a difference in the world. They visited Spruce Lodge, House of Blessing, and the Avondale Food Shelf, and had a visit from Dog Guides of Canada future dog guides. A big thank you to The GO Project staff - Clare, Julia, and Sung, and our youth volunteers - AJ and Ian. Thank you also to our kitchen volunteers from Faith Formation, UCW, Council Executive, and Outreach who made our delicious snacks and lunches, and to our volunteer drivers who got us safely to and from our mission sites. Thanks to Carol Anne and Brian Doughty for billeting the staff and taking such good care of them. And thanks to everyone who encouraged and supported this project - we couldn't do it without you!

Clipboards with crayons and colouring pages are available at both entrances for any children or anyone requiring same. Thanks to Bill and Marion Douglas for providing the clipboards. A note from the Worship Team Did you know we have a group of great people who volunteer to move furniture and instruments for rentals and church services? We do, and because summer is a busy time we want to give them a break. Therefore once Stratford Summer Music moves their grand piano into place we will move both our piano and organ into the transept. We will only use piano during this period (Sunday, July 22nd through Sunday, August 26th) so the rental team won’t have to move and re-move the instruments and Lori won’t need to concern herself with availability. Thanks for understanding.

REMINDER TO: "COME FROM AWAY" TICKET HOLDERS Please be at the Avondale parking lot no later than 9:00am Wednesday, July 18, 2018 to board the busses. It is advisable to car pool to the parking lot. There are other events at Avondale that day. Thank you.

Summer News from the Library… If you’re sitting by the pool, resting at the cottage, or camping in a tent or a trailer, you’re going to need something to read. Don’t forget that the library has

lots of great books to choose from. There is a new selection set out on the table in the library for you to peruse and a wide variety still on the shelves. Remember to sign them out and leave the cards in the appropriate box on the shelf. Happy Reading!!!

Casserole Ministry Visiting someone recovering from illness or surgery? Avondale members are welcome to deliver a ‘ready to heat up’ meal. They are available on the top shelf of the Kitchen Freezer.

The FOOD SHELF is open every Friday 9:30-11:00.

Your generosity makes a difference in the lives of many in Stratford. The clients are very appreciative of the donations that are church congregation supports in food donations and cash donations (allowing our

shoppers to buy fresh produce). The following clients used the Avondale food shelf during June 52 families, 66 adults and 15 children. If you have any spare produce from your gardens the food shelf would appreciate receiving some on Friday morning between 9 and 9:30 a.m. Thanks for your continued support of the food shelf serving a lot of people in the area.

Please pick up your Fundscrip order form from the table outside of the church office and return it with your cheque payable to Avondale United anytime during the week (can be put through the mail slot to the office) The final day to accept the order forms will be July 8th (2nd Sunday of the month because of the holiday weekend) ~ the cards will be available for pick up at coffee time the following Sunday.

Still a few billets required This summer, Stratford Summer Music is bringing L’Orchestra de la Francophonie to our city for the first part of their festival. They will be performing at Avondale on Sat July 21 and in the market square on Sun July 22. They will be in town from the Friday until the Monday. These 64 french, university aged students will need a place to stay, so we are asking by for your help. If you would be willing to billet a student or two.... or three! Please see Heather Herman after service. Billet families will receive complimentary tickets to the concert here at Avondale. And we would be very grateful !!
