Following a recent rapfrom Supreme Court,the Uttar Pradesh

government has ordereddistrict administration toidentify illegal construc-tion of religious places ongovernment and non-gov-ernment land. Followingthe SC order ADM (admin)Satish Kumar has askedagencies like GhaziabadNagar Nigam, NagarPanchayat, PWD, irriga-tion and other depart-ments, working in the dis-trict to file a list of reli-gious places, constructedillegally on governmentand non-government landunder its jurisdiction. Areport in this regard was tobe filed on November 13.

The recent developmenthas residents hopping madover denial of basic ameni-ties by development author-ities in connivance withvested interests. A city forcommunity should havebasic amenities like hospi-tals, religious places, sportsstadia, shopping malls ormarkets, police station, firestation etc. Residents allegeland meant for the ameni-ties gets transferred for com-mercial use leading to cur-tailment of basic amenities.

With the passage of timeTHA has become populousbut despite the fact no landhas been earmarked for reli-gious places. As a result,people of various commu-nities find it convenient toencroach upon parks and

other sarkari land. In arecent case when people ofa part i cu lar re l ig ionencroached upon a govern-ment land for constructionof a religious place. Whenadminis trat ion wasinformed immediate actionwas taken and the con-struction was halted. Lateron massive tension eruptedover the issue and forceshad to be deployed to bringit under control.

ERA OF 'FRAUD'IN VASUNDHARA

An RTI was also filed thisyear in August to seekinformation that why thebasic amenities were delet-ed from the layout plan ofVasundhara. Now morethan two months havepassed but no reply hasbeen given for the same.

Federation fumes, "Wehave been asking thatthere was a provision for anindoor stadium, plot forsemi religious and cultur-al activities, musical foun-tain etc. in the masterplan/layout plan of Sector7 Vasundhara Yojna, datedFebruary 12 , 2001 o fUPAVP (Uttar PradeshAwas Vikas Parishad).Later on the plan arbi-t rar i l y changed onDecember 15, 2005 and allthe facilities removed to'accommodate' commercialservices l ike drive- inrestaurant, multiplex,shopping mall, hotel, pri-vate degree college andcommercial plots in theirplace. On January 6, 2007the plan was again amend-ed and basic amenities vir-tually disappeared".

"The basic amenities havebeen quietly deleted with-

out even inviting any objec-tion from residents, thusdepriving them of basic civicamenities which werepromised by UPAVP whilepromoting the scheme forsale to public," he adds."The appl icat ion waspenned down and submit-ted on August 24 this yearand according to RTI lawUPAVP is supposed to bereplied to by October 24(The application was notreceived by any officer per-sonally) but the deadlinealready has been expiredbut s t i l l we have notreceived any reply. Being aresident I want that peoplewho are responsible for themiserable condition ofVasundhara should beslapped with a legal noticeand let Vasudhara get itsbasic amenities back," headds.
