Following the SC order ADM (admin) Satish Kumar has asked agencies like Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam, Nagar Panchayat, PWD, irriga- tion and other depart- ments, working in the dis- trict to file a list of reli- gious places, constructed illegally on government and non-government land under its jurisdiction. A report in this regard was to be filed on November 13. The recent development has residents hopping mad over denial of basic ameni- ties by development author- ities in connivance with vested interests. A city for community should have basic amenities like hospi- tals, religious places, sports stadia, shopping malls or markets, police station, fire station etc. Residents allege land meant for the ameni- ties gets transferred for com- mercial use leading to cur- tailment of basic amenities. With the passage of time THA has become populous but despite the fact no land has been earmarked for reli- gious places. As a result, people of various commu- nities find it convenient to encroach upon parks and other sarkari land. In a recent case when people of a particular religion encroached upon a govern- ment land for construction of a religious place. Later on the plan arbi- trarily changed on December 15, 2005 and all the facilities removed to 'accommodate' commercial services like drive-in restaurant, multiplex, shopping mall, hotel, pri- vate degree college and commercial plots in their place.
