1849 Letter

Imagine that your child has left home to seek his or

her fortune in the gold fields of California during the

Gold Rush. Write a letter using language that sounds

as if it is 1849. Be as creative as you like. Send the

letter, sealed in an envelope, with your child’s name

on the outside, to school by Wednesday morning,

10/4. The “Pony Express” will deliver the letter during

our stay in Coloma.

This is very important, so please make it a priority and

take time out of your busy schedule to write a letter.

We don’t want any students to feel left out. The

students really enjoy receiving and reading their

letters. And remember, shhhhhh, it’s a surprise!
