What was the Texas War of Independence???

The War was an armed conflict between Mexico and the settlers in the Texas portion of the Mexican state of Coahuila y Tejas.

The ruler of Mexico wanted some American settlers to convert to the Mexican culture and gain control of Texas.

from October 2, 1835 to April 21, 1836. There was also an operation between the

Where was this war? The War was located near the borders of

Texas and Mexico. Some of the specific battles were at the

Battle of Gonzales, La Bahia, San Antonio, and ended at the Battle of San Jacinto.

Why did The Texas War of Independence happen?

In 1824, Moses Austin was invited to settle a colony of Americans in east Texas. The people would have to convert to Catholicism, become “Mexicanized”, and leave behind slaves, but nobody did. After Austin died, the the new Mexican President, General Santa Anna, by 1835, increased tensions between the central government in Mexico City and the distant region of Texas were at the brink of war.

Who was involved in the war?

Mainly, Moses Austin, General Santa Anna, the settlers from the United States in Texas, the Mexican people in Coahuila y Tejas, and the Navy’s of both Mexico and Texas were involved.
