Principal’s Reflection
18 November, 2015
Week 7, Term 4
Dear Families,
This week our school began our celebration of Advent. The word “Advent” means
‘coming’ or ‘arrival’. In Advent we thank God for coming into our world as Jesus and
for what His life brings to us. Advent gives us time to get ready
for Jesus so that our lives can reflect the love and joy that we feel
at Christmas.
At school we start the celebration early to allow our children to fully experience this four
weeks of preparation. We remind students that Advent is not a time of counting down the
weeks until holidays, but rather, counting down the weeks until Jesus’ birth at Christ-
mas. This week we are filled with HOPE as we wait to celebrate the birth of Jesus. We pre-
pare our hearts and think about where Jesus is present in our lives.
Our final Parents and Friends fundraiser for the year is the Christmas raffle. If you have any donations to add
please send them to the front office. Tickets will go on sale next week and are $2 each or 3 for $5. The fundrais-
er will be the final one contributing to our new senior playground that has been designed by our grade 3/4 clas-
ses and is going to be installed in week 8.
A reminder that our school Christmas Carols will be held at school in the court yard from 5:45pm next week on
Thursday 26th November. Families are encouraged to BYO chairs and bring along dinner. On the night we are
still looking for 8 more parents to help with cooking sausages, selling drinks and raffle tickets. If you are able to
assist please contact the school office.
God bless you all and keep you safe,
Mr. Simon Duffy
Principal
Reflection Dear God, as we begin this Advent season, give light to
our eyes and peace to our
hearts. Help us to get ready Jesus’ birth. Help us to be kind
to others while we are waiting.
Amen
