Hospital is the growing industry

The health care industry is an aggregation of sectors within the economic system that provides goods and services to treat patients with curative, preventive, rehabilitative, and palliative care. The modern health care industry is divided into many sectors and depends on interdisciplinary teams of trained professionals and paraprofessionals to meet health needs of individuals and populations. The Economic deprivation in a large segment of population results in poor access to health care. India faces high burden of disease because of lack of environmental sanitation and safe drinking water, under- nutrition, poor living conditions, and limited access to preventive and curative health care services . Lack of education, gender inequality and explosive growth of population also contribute to increasing burden of disease. India also faces the twin epidemic of continuing/emerging infectious diseases as well as chronic degenerative diseases From the survey report of Human Development Index (HDI), India hold 136 th rank. HealthCare is a globally growing industry with a growth rate of 23 percent . Hospital is a fast– changing Techno- savy industry .

Telemedicine

Telemedicine is the use of telecommunication and information technologies in order to provide clinical health care at a distance. It is a rapidly developing application of clinical medicine where medical information is transferred through the phone or the internet and sometimes other networks for the purpose of consulting, and sometimes remote medical procedures or examinations. It helps to eliminate distance barriers and can improve access to medical services that would often not be consistently available in distant rural communities. This used to save lives in critical care and emergency situations.

Telemedicine applied to medical practice results in :

Minimal patient displacement for quality treatment. Decrease in the relocation of medical specialists to the patient. Cost effective method of health care delivery. More efficient and effective use of medical and technology resources. Enhanced diagnostic and therapeutic quality of care.
