PASTOR’S MESSAGE: Palm Sunday “Then he said, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’ He replied to him, ‘Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.’" (Luke 23:43) To enter into the Holy Week activities can be like watching the final rounds of a mega sporting event. To some, it is just a ‘routine’ to accomplish. However, for many Catholics, it is still a meaningful and solemn week. We grow in faith, not by remembering in ritual and song the last days of Jesus’ life on earth but by making the needed changes in our lives in gratitude to His humble act of dying for us on the cross. As you listen to the words of the passion narrative, which character fits you? Are you like Peter who denied he knew Jesus three times? Jesus’ boundless mercy and love should move us to utter the words of the repentant thief hanging on a cross next to him asking: “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Our 2019 Lenten journey is coming to an end. I pray you found forgiveness in your heart for those in your life who created conflict. And while our parish community continues to grow, this is also a beautiful time to renew your appreciation for Jesus’ sacrifice by offering your time, talent and treasure. “Christ Jesus, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped.” (Philippians 2:6)
