Reading Workshop:-Text to Self and Text to Text connections-Thanksgiving read alouds

Writing Workshop/Word Study:-Personal Narrative: adding thoughts and feelings, acting out the story to help remember details before you write-blends/digraphs-using familiar words to help spell tricky words-editing our writing-5th grade students came and read their personal narratives to help us think about how we can improve our writing.

Math Workshop:

-Using a number line to add and subtract.-addition and subtraction word problems-organizing our work (showing a number sentence, writing work clearly, identifying the answer, etc)-introduced a new subitizing game https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=11&v=A26BgIOSxo4

If you are looking for something to do at home:-Play a game of the opener we did this week. Say the following: The answer is ____ (any number), what is the question? See if they can come up with lots of different ways to make that number. -Pose basic addition and subtraction word problems for them to solve. For example, Jenny has 5 pieces of candy and Jake has 7. How many do they have all together? OR Justin has 3 fewer stuffed animals than Katie. Katie has 10. How many does Justin have? Ask them what words help them know it is subtraction or addition. Have them act it out or draw pictures to solve.
