Client Brief: To demolish the existing Hotel Les Carterets and replace it with a development of 13 high quality apartments with self contained basement parking, terraces and balconies with west and north views of the sea. The building is to respect its setting with careful use of high quality materials.
Les Residences has been carefully designed to complete the ribbon development of domestic properties along Cobo coast road and La Mare playing fields.
The architect and client have worked closely with the Planning Department to ensure that the replacement building has been designed to integrate with its surroundings and to offer a high quality building in this unique, picturesque location.
The design team took inspiration from the many Art Deco buildings of the 1930’s, constructed in coastal locations throughout Southern England and within the Islands. We decided that this approach could be used successfully with this new building, by adopting subtle Art Deco themes within its design. The resultant building provides a high quality development with a high level of attention to detail.
The integration of curved elements, as well as the layering of the different levels ensures that the building sits elegantly within the frontage that is Cobo Village. In addition to this, careful use of quality refined materials such as curved glazing, stucco render as well as granite and stone elements define the finer detailing of this building.
This attention to detail, both internally and externally, has been an extremely important part of the design process and we are proud to have been involved in such a unique and challenging project.
