Despite a decrease in highly visible violence, social control, intimidation, threats, mobility restrictions and access constraints continue to affect civilians in Colombia.
Official data report 17.976 IDP's for the first eight months of 2016. Based on past trends.OCHA estimates that once the registry is updated, the number of IDP's during the semester will likely reach 89,392.
Civilians, particulary indigenous and afro-colombian communities continue suffering movement restrictions or access limitations on basic goods and services due to armed violence. During the first eight months of 2016, more than 2.7 million people were affected by these constraints.
Threats against civilians increased 33% in the first eight months of 2016 as compared with the same period of 2015.
