Raising of the Participation Age

• What it is• Young people in England are expected to continue

in education or training until the end of the academic year in which they turn 17 from 2013 and until their 18th birthday from 2015

• What it is not• Raising of the school leaving age

• Full-time Education:

– School Sixth Form– Further Education College– Sixth Form College– Independent Private Provider

• An Apprenticeship

• Part-time learning if employed, self employed or volunteering for more than 20 hours per week
