STAS2019 AWARDSSDG 14 Life Below Water, Target 14.7, requires that tourism, as an economic activity, should play its role in ensuring that marine resources are sustainably utilized for the benefit of all, especially those threatened by poverty.
In line with this SDG requirement, the Sustain-able Tourism Africa Summit Awards 2019 will for the first time target several tourism provid-ers i.e. hotels, tour operators, community-based tourism organizations and county governments, to recognize and reward their contribution to supporting sustainable development in coast-al destinations. Hence the Theme: “Sustainable Tourism for Sustainable Oceans”.
1. Innovative protection of marine life i.e. spe-cies and habitat conservation2. Innovative waste management e.g. refuse, reuse, recycle or repurpose3. Innovative interventions that enable SME in-tegration into tourism value chain
