Aim
• To develop critical arguments about a range of media debates and issues.
• Bring all the various skills and concepts you have studied together.
Issues
• the concerns people argue about
• the discussions we have as a society about the role of the media and the relationship between individual people, media organisations, producers and governments.
Example
• Should violent films be censored?
• Why are 90 per cent of the films shown at mulitplexes American?
• Should journalists be allowed to intrude on people’s privacy?
There is no right or wrong answer
• That is what makes it an issue and/or debate.
Your task:
• understand the issues around these debates:
• the subject matter
• the factual, historical and political context.
Make your own conclusions
• explain each point of view
• give examples
• show your personal engagement and give your INFORMED opinion
