In 1999 John Hitchcox and Philippe Starck found YOO.
A revolutionary vision to enhance the way people live,
love and play through original design.
In the pursuit of creating happier communities,

Founded in France, more than 35 years ago, on the
shores of the ‘Golfe du Morbihan’, Atelier Arcau is an
international architecture company characterized by an
entrepreneurial spirit, team-work across expertise areas
and new ways of approaching conventional tasks.
Atelier Arcau is one of the most outstanding
architecture studios. Its engagement and work in
architecture, urbanism and design has been recognized by
the industry many times, such as in 2012 when they were
awarded ‘The World Architecture Festival Award’ in Singapore.
Led by Veyron and Fraud, Atelier Arcau is deeply
involved in creating unique places, matching with
local context and culture.

MODERN ARCHITECTURE
Architecture is the cradle of every culture and the essence of
a city. We often start by extracting the spirit of the place
because the ‘already’ is as interesting as the ‘not yet’.
A building is always part of a whole picture.
Atelier Arcau’s regional character is not a cultivated aesthetic.
It is neither an affirmation of cultural heritage, nor a deliberate
resistance to its erosion by global currents. Atelier Arcau’s
architecture is of a particular place, because buildings such as
Salorge, Steel Band and Rive droite are blunt and unmediated
expressions of the sites, situations, and material resources that
shape them in Pornic, Vannes and Xiaogan.

Interiors and Architecture are intrinsically linked. Both are
born out of the desire for something that is aesthetically
pleasing but also the need for functionality. Interiors and
Architecture both contain a human element to their existence.
Atelier Arcau’s Interiors are born out of our thoughts on
architecture, going a step further in the offering of an
authentic new experience.
The ‘interior promenade’ is appreciated for the manner in
which bewitches our senses. It precisely adjusts our desires
for void and matter, warmth and coolness, silence and
effervescence, light and shadow. All at once it caters to please
the senses all the while igniting the enjoyment of the mind.

Here at Atelier Arcau we believe strategic urbanism,
architecture and landscape are three interrelated disciplines
and should naturally sit hand in hand with each other.
Sensitivity to landscape context and respect of local
cultures are the keys of Atelier Arcau’s approach
for a sustainable development.
Through its master plans and urban strategies,
Atelier Arcau creates the framework of urbanity.
The landscape, geography, historical or anthropological
evidence on which the project is based, are decrypted
until the uniqueness of their character is identified.
The City of tomorrow shall be intense, unique and attractive.

The landscape of a project is the meeting point between sky and
earth, where the lines become blurred the inside and the outside.
Atelier Arcau’s exteriors are developed with the mindset that
these are in fact bridges between the interior of a building
and the environment within which it sits within.
Whether it’s a courtyard, a swimming-pool or a space in between
public and private spaces, the exteriors are an extension of the
architecture and define the fundamental relationship
of the building and the greater city.
Exteriors are like a witness of time and a mirror of our mood.
They are the intangible room where you ‘feel the country’
and experience the seasons.
