    transormed the Bourne Building, turning it into a modern,

    Biological Sciences to continue to thrive with its excellent

    Royal Holloway is located in a beautiul part o Surrey, a county

    amed or its historic market towns, parks and woodlands, and lively

    cultural and sporting scene.

    The campus is situated between the village o Engleeld Green and

    the town o Egham. Engleeld Green (reportedly the site o the last

    duel to be ought in England) has small shops and a picturesque

    village green, complete with cricket pitch and traditional pub. Egham

    has the shops, supermarkets, restaurants and bars you would expect

    o any small town. During term time, a college bus service runs

    regularly to and rom Egham station, rom which central London

    is just 40 minutes by train.

    Close by are the towns o Windsor and Staines. Windsor is amous

    or its royal castle, Great Park, upmarket shops and streets. Always

    buzzing with tourists, there is plenty to do and see. Down the

    majestic River Thames, Staines has a large shopping centre with

    all the high street names, a cinema complex, sports centre and

    swimming pool.

    Many students live locally. The greatest concentrations o local

    student accommodation tend to be in Egham, Engleeld Green and

    Staines since these are the easiest places to reach on oot, bicycle or

    by public transport.

    The area is dominated by the River Thames, the nearest stretch being

    at Runnymede, site o the signing o the Magna Carta, a charter

    leading the way towards the rst constitutional law in the English

    The Students Unions non-residential bus service is there to make

    The Students Union runs its own award-winning media

    and online). The Orbital magazine, awarded Best Student

    Magazine by the National Union o Students Media Awards in 2006,

    was voted Englands Best Student Radio Station in 2005, and

    Royal Holloways Students Union strives to give you a variety o

    clubs, each with their own unique identity and culture to make

    students, the Students Activities department within the Students

    Union supports all o the Colleges sports clubs and, i your sport

    isnt catered or, we can even help you start your own club.

    The Students Activities department hosts 35 clubs ranging rom

    Royal Mail painted its iconic red post boxes gold this summer to celebrate every

    Team GB gold medal win in the 2012 Games.

    A post box on the Royal Holloway campus was painted and unveiled by Sophie

    Christiansen. Christiansen, a Royal Holloway alumna, is a Paralympic Dressage

    Rider and the rst British triple gold medallist o the 2012 Games. Royal Holloway

    was also proud to be the Ocial Rowing and Canoe Sprint Olympic Village,

    providing accommodation or top athletes.

    Royal Holloway places great importance on the provision o

    user-riendly inormation services. The Library Service and IT

    Department work together to provide integrated support or you,

    rom your rst day until you graduate. We are continually improving

    our services, investing in the very latest technology and introducing

    more innovative learning spaces to meet the needs o todays

    students.

    Moodle, the Colleges Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), provides

    students with support materials including lecture videos, handouts,

    extra activities and useul links. It also provides a huge range o

    resources or sel-directed learning or international students,

    covering everything rom English language study to academicreerencing conventions. Additionally, the Campus Connect portal

    service enables students to easily access services, including College

    e-mail, course details, course registration and payment.

    Library service

    Royal Holloway Library Services is on two sites within easy

    walking distance o each other. The Founders Library (languages,

    literatures, cinema, theatre, ne arts and music) is located within

    the magnicent Founders Building, modelled on the Chateau de

    Chambord and opened by Queen Victoria in 1886. The Archives

    service and collections are also in this building and provide access to

    unique papers and materials relating to the history and development

    o the College.

    The Bedord Library, opened in 1993, houses resources or science,

    social sciences and history as well as tlc@bedord, an IT-rich social

    learning space launched in 2008.

    nternational students studying at Royal Holloway receive an extra

    rom outside the UK, we realise you can sometimes have very

    Council ensures that each mainstream aith group has a voice at

    Royal Holloway, and encourages dialogue and debate through

    interaith events.

    The numerous on-campus aith groups include the Islamic Society,

    who arrange ve daily Muslim prayers and classes, the Hindu

    Society, Sikh Society and Buddhist Society. The Chaplaincy provides

    Due to limited car parking acilities students who live on c

    are not permitted to bring a car onto College property. Pa

    The College Card

    Through the College Card students can access their RCS account

    which works in much the same way as Maestro or Visa Delta cards.

    When the account is in credit, you can make purchases in the dining

    halls, cas, bars and College Shop.

    Catering

    Residents o catered-pay-as-you-go halls are entitled to a discount

    o 50 per cent o the normal selling price o the majority o ood

    items purchased in the Colleges dining halls. All students are

    entitled to save the VAT element (currently 20 per cent) when

    purchasing most ood and drink on their RCS account.

    The two catered dining halls, Founders and KWs at Kingswood,

    serve a varied menu which caters or a mix o student tastes. I you

    have special dietary requirements, please check in advance whether

    Mathematics with Statistics
