Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe November 24, 2019

T his is Christ the King Sunday, the last Sunday of the Church’s liturgical year. As we sum up our year of worship, we honor and celebrate our Lord Jesus Christ as sovereign Lord of life and all existence. This feast was established in 1925. As our world moved from the wreckage of the irst world war, Pope Pius XI felt the need to indicate who is the Lord of all life and whom we should be serving rather than fallible and sometimes wicked human leaders. The last line of this Sunday’s gospel makes it clear why Jesus is King and Lord of us all. He tells the good thief on the cross next to him, “Amen, I say toyou, todayyouwillbewithme inParadise.” Only one who is the source of life can make such a promise. Jesus, one with the Father, is the Lord of life and can therefore offer the repentant thief heaven that very day for his great leap of faith while dying on a cross with Jesus. Truly, only Jesus is the one we should pledge our lives to. Truly, Jesus is our Lord and source of life. Truly, Jesus is King of all the Universe! Blessed be Jesus Christ, now and forever! OurLadyofLorettoChapelClosingGuidelines

D uring the winter season, we will close the chapel due to severe inclement weather (such as sleet, heavy snow, low wind chill, icy roads). If any of these conditions exist, please call 763-479-0535, option 3, before coming to the chapel for your hour. Although Our Lord will not be in the monstrance, he is still in the chapel tabernacle, so if you would still like to visit Him in the chapel, you are welcome. FromtheParishCouncils

A dvent begins December 1st and culminates with the birth of Jesus. Let’s make this year a special one and focus on the deep reasons we celebrate Christmas —not the gifts or shows or movies or food, but the virgin birth of our Lord. Some catholic families have advent traditions they follow at home and others don’t. This year your parish councils challenge every parishioner to get and use at least one of the following for Advent: Advent Book/Companion Advent Wreath Advent calendar Advent Candleholder You may already own these, but if not, an Advent Book/Companion - "TheWordAmong

Us"has been put out at the church entrances, and the Ss. Peter & Paul Christkindlmarktfestival this next Saturday, November 30th, will be selling Advent & Christmas items and offering workshops for making your own Advent Wreath. Otherwise, you can ind these items at St. George Bookstore in Blaine or from an online store like Amazon. Please use these to help celebrate Advent with your family at home, to share the joy we all feel this time of year. May you and your family have a most joyous 2019 Advent. St. Thomas and Ss.
