Simufact.welding, a software product of Simufact Engineering, has been nominated
as one of the three most innovative exhibits for the shortlist of the EuroBLECH
ward ! categor" #$oining%. The EuroBLECH ward, at the international technolog"trade fair for sheet metal forming, has been awarded b" the speciali&ed media
blechnet and '' 'aschinen'ar(t, both publications of )ogel publishing, this "ear
in six categories.

the answers often re/uire significant efforts0 dents and bumps ! which are also

unbalanced. The minimi&ation of welding distortions in trials or rather the
subse/uent ad$ustment is expensive and time2consuming.

application cases, not for real complex structures in the industrial manufacturing,
because considering all influential factors with the current methods was extremel"

Simufact.welding is from the ground up newl" developed simulation software
following the specifications of a tas( force of the *erman automobile industr". +ast,
precise and robust calculations combined with an innovative, user2friendl" and
suitable for dail" use concept are to allow engineers and technicians from
production to handle their welding tas(s with the software.
fter an eight "ear development period, Simufact%s new version 5 comes ver" close
to the demands of the manufacturing industr"0 an efficient and comfortable model
design, consideration of special welding2specific boundar" conditions, ad$ustable
meshing and re2meshing, a material data ban( with complete data sets for all
welding relevant material classes, practical and application2oriented handling and
pre2settings.
Simufact.welding is particularl" high performance +inite2Element2based software,
which allows the realistic prediction of distortions and internal stresses, while
considering material changes during welding, and determines strategies to minimi&e
them. Simufact.welding is the onl" simulation software which automaticall"
considers the complex contact situation between the components. Simufact.welding
calculates the microstructural properties in the heat2affected &one6 their form allows
conclusions about the properties of the weld seam, in particular its strength. The
user gains valuable insights to identif" welding defects such as hot crac(s in the
simulation, and to avoid them in the practice.
7nli(e regular calculation software, our software assists in finding the optimal
clamping devices based on the implementation of real tool geometr", while
considering clamping forces and clamping stiffness. 8n addition to the clamping
concepts, the suitable welding se/uences can be identified with Simufact.welding.
The Software predicts the final contour of the component and helps to manufacture
components with precise tolerances in series. new visuali&ation concept ensures
that the entire welding process, with all its process c"cles, can be reviewed in an
overview, influencing factors can be visuali&ed and different variants are comparable
at a single glance.
fter researching universities were primaril" among the first users, the software has
now gained the functional maturit" to ma(e the productive application in the tough
industrial practice possible. The first industrial customers have completed the earl"
stages of researching, experimenting and testing and are now ta(ing serious steps
towards the productive application of welding simulation software.
