I encourage all members and leaders to look forward not backward, seize every opportunity that presents itself to move this organization and their profession forward. Thank you all for allowing me to serve you as President over the last two years. It has been an honor, a joy, and an experience that I will always cherish. I have met many new colleagues, made many new friends, and enjoyed it to the fullest. I look forward to seeing you at upcoming events as I take on my new role as the South Atlantic Region Director. Forever grateful, “Our generation is becoming so busy trying to prove that women can do what men can do that women are losing their uniqueness. Women weren’t created to do everything a man can do. MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Wendy McQuiggan

2017-2019 President

September 2019

It is truly hard to believe how quickly these two years have passed and that I am writing this final message as I transition to Immediate Past President. It was certainly a busy couple of years, which is probably why it passed in the blink of an eye. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the officers, directors, committee chairs, members, and friends of the chapter. It takes a collective effort to make an organization like ours viable.

While there is still much to do, the new Board of Directors is invigorated, motivated and anxious to work with the ongoing leadership of the members who remain on the board. Moving forward, it is clear that the Richmond Chapter 141 will be in great hands under the leadership of President Chrissie Slater. She will be surrounded by a great Board of Directors and wonderful members.

As I conclude this incredible chapter in my life as President of our Chapter, I want to thank you for the opportunity to lead. I hope that I have completed this task as a transformative leader who is more self-aware, more mindful of others, more socially aware, more confident, and better at managing personal and professional relationships.

Forever grateful,

“Our generation is becoming so busy trying to prove that women can do what men can do that women are losing their uniqueness. Women weren’t created to do everything a man can do. Women were created to do everything a man can’t do.”

HEALTH & SAFETY: Protecting Your Body from Injuries

Use basic common sense in your daily comportment around the office. That means: Sit upright in your chair, with your feet touching the floor when you're working at your desk. Before sitting down, look to make sure your chair is beneath you and hasn't rolled away. • Look where you're going whenever you're walking

around the office. • Walk, don't run. • Go slowly if the floor is wet or otherwise slippery. • Don't read while walking. • Always hold the handrail when using stairs. • Immediately wipe up spilled beverages, water tracked in

by wet shoes or drippings from umbrellas. Ask a custodian to do the cleaning if you don't have time to do it yourself.

• Obey your building's (no) smoking rules, and don't throw matches, ashes, or cigarette butts into regular trash.

• Get up and stretch or walk around. This can help prevent injuries while promoting circulation.
