BROWN COUNTY HEALTH & WELLNESS FOUNDATION GOLF OUTING SEPTEMBER 6

Members of the Brown County Health & Wellness Founda-tion’s Scholarship Committee are busily planning the Annual Fall Golf Outing which is scheduled for Friday, September 6, with a shotgun start at 9:00 AM at the Friendly Meadows Golf Course in Hamersville, Ohio. The Golf Outing spon-sored by the Brown County Health & Wellness Foundation (formerly the Brown County General Hospital Foundation) promises to be a day filled with good food, prizes, raffles, and a Hole-in-One contest. Proceeds from the outing benefit the Foundation’s Healthcare Careers Scholarship Program.

The cost of the outing is $75 and includes 18 holes of golf, cart and lunch after the outing. If you are interested in golf-ing or supporting the outing with a donation or would like more information, please contact Teri Baumann at (937) 378-7712 no later than August 30.

Continue to Celebrate Independence Day – Hire a Vet Americans everywhere paused to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy on the recent Independence Day holiday, but we also must remember – each and every day – those whose commitment and sacrifice purchased the rights we often take for grant-ed. For more than two centuries, the men and women of our armed forces have gone in harm’s way, standing in the breech to preserve and protect our nation. Today, many of those soldiers face an obstacle as daunting as their company First Sergeant: finding a civilian job. For thou-sands of veterans, securing and succeeding in a new career is often a challenging and frustrating process. This should not be the case. Fortunately, many companies, including AT&T, are ramping up efforts to hire and support veteran employees, while also bringing exceptional talent to the workforce. AT&T recently announced a goal of hiring 5,000 veterans and their family mem-bers into career opportunities over the next five years as part of the Joining Forces Initiative. AT&T is also teaming up with JPMorgan Chase and the 100,000 Jobs Mission to launch an online veteran talent exchange later this year. Through this tool, active-duty members of the military and veterans will have the opportunity to “opt-in” to a tal-ent-sharing database so their career information can be shared with employers that are members of the 100,000 Jobs Mis-sion. Current AT&T resources for veterans include a military career site at www.att.jobs/military and the Military Skills Translator Tool, which helps veterans from all branches of service align their Military Occupation Code or Military Occupa-tion Specialty to civilian jobs that are good fits for the veteran’s skills and talents. The reverberations of Fourth of July fireworks will fade away, but the benefits of hir-ing military veterans will not. There’s no better way to honor America’s veterans than by providing them with a job opportunity so they may continue to serve our great na-tion.
