Technical Information

The common monobloc crossing (or frog) is manufactured from a single block of rolled steel.

The steel used is the same grade and hardness as the materials used to make rails. Consequently, there are no welding issues such as those experienced when welding dissimilar materials (eg. manganese castings).

Each monobloc crossing is CNC machined to match the end profile of the rail before having the legs butt-welded to it.

The entire unit is then precision machined, hard faced then CNC machined again.

Monobloc crossings can be manufactured to suit any intersection and crossing angle and the butt-welded rails can be made to any length required.
