INTERNSHIP PROGRAM GOALS

Internship Program Coordinator: A faculty member who serves as

the central information resource for all questions.

- Connects with businesses to locate internship opportunities.

- Assists businesses with completing clearances.

- Arranges and coordinates internship placements.

- Oversees the completion of all agreements.

- Provides ongoing communication, direction, and support.

- Reviews all student evaluations and assigns student grade and

credit.

Community Sponsor Worksite Supervisor: A staff person employed

by the community worksite business that supervises student interns.

- Provides realistic, challenging assignments.

- Provides exposure the business “culture” and workplace

expectations.

- Serves as a mentor.

- Guides the performance of the intern.

- Provides critical feedback to the intern on performance and growth.

Internship Program Enrollment

Process

1. Identify juniors and seniors who are interested in an internship

opportunity and connect them with a site.

2. The Internship Coordinator gives the student an Internship

Application to complete and return.

3. Businesses are contacted, clearances are completed, and the best

match is found for the student and worksite.

4. The Internship Coordinator meets with the student and the Worksite

Supervisor to review responsibilities and each completes the

Approval and Agreement Form.

5. The student begins the internship.

6. There is continued communication on a monthly basis between the

Internship Coordinator, the Worksite Supervisor, and the student.

1. The student will complete 10 hours per week to earn 1 elective

credit per semester.

1. An evaluation of student progress will be completed by the

Community Worksite Supervisor once a month and submitted to

the Internship Coordinator.

1. At the end of the semester, the student will complete a final paper

or multimedia project on the following:

➔What the student learned from her/his internship experience.

➔A reflection on the on-the-job training content and process the

student

experienced throughout her/his internship.

➔How the internship experience influenced his/her future

career

decisions.

Go to the district website.

Select Resources on the right.

Select Current Parents and Students.

Select PowerSchool.

Enter your username and password.

On the Class Registration screen you and

your child will select your student’s courses

by using the course screens which appear in

each category.

Select the category by clicking on the pencil.

Check the appropriate course and then click

on the okay button.

The category Required Courses to Graduate

lists the courses typically taken in 9th grade

which are required to graduate. Only select

these courses if your student did not have

them in 9th grade or failed one or more of

these courses.

The Electives category lists numerous pages

of electives. The courses are listed in

alphabetical order. You may need to go

through numerous screens to find the

elective(s) you are looking for.

When you have selected the appropriate

required courses and a total of 6 to 8.17

credits for the 2016-2017 school year, scroll

down to the bottom of the Registration page

and click on .
