12 Ways To Feel More Progress In Your Life
Stephanie Chan is a Sydney based Life Coach, Dating Coach and Presenter.
Feel like you’re stuck in a rut, that everyone else is moving forward and
getting somewhere while you flounder…?
Comparing yourself negatively to others’ progress is a common habit that can cause all sorts of destructive feelings, at worst
resulting in depression and feelings of lack of worth.
Making some simple changes in habits and outlook can turn this around:
1. Redefine what success means to you:Can success mean something other than possessions or career?
How about freedom, connection, or peace in your life?
2. Stop comparing to others:Recognize that no matter how successful other people look on the outside, they are feeling the same inadequacy as you
on the inside. That is a fact.
3. Whose goals are you striving for?Be honest about whose expectations you are trying to meet.
Your life is your own, go for what YOU want.
4. Get organized!Write an action plan or a To Do list – this simple act can
make you feel “on target” and moving forward.
5. Take some affirmative action:Even the smallest action towards what you want will give you a sense of achievement and movement. Do
something TODAY.
6. Exercise: Get moving –physiology and circulation are essential to
feeling motivated.
7. Celebrate every small success:Even getting out of bed on time…if you are constantly
congratulating yourself you will do more and more. Self-criticism does not work.
8. Take time to reflect: Looking back on all you’ve done in the last year, big and
small, increases your confidence and sense of satisfaction and gives you the motivation to keep going.
9. How are you ahead?Write a list of everything that puts you ahead of most other
people. We tend to compare ourselves to the highest achievers. Remember that you are well ahead of the real 90% of the
population who are not doing anywhere near as much as you.
10. Make a vision board:Get clear on what you want and create it visually so you’ll be
excited to get up and move every morning. When you can SEE your goals, you will WANT to get working!
11. Baby steps: Don’t overwhelm yourself by wanting to achieve it all
yesterday. Break everything down into really small steps and concentrate on one at a time.
12. Do not label yourself:We procrastinate, we are not procrastinators.
Remember that behavior is not character. We all have demotivated times, don’t compound it by labelling
yourself.
