Audition / Permission Information
2016 Performance Dates: Thursday & Friday, March 3 & 4 @ 7pm, Saturday, March 5 @ 2pm

ALL GUYS & 11th - 12th GALS: Tuesday 11/17, 3: 30 - 5:30
General Notes:
*please audition on your assigned day
*this offers staff a more accurate comparison *if you have a conflict, talk with Mrs. Holley BEFORE Friday 11/13

*Callback list posted on website by Tuesday 11/17 @ 8:00pm
*This audition is only for a few (primarily HS students).
*This audition offers staff the chance to answer questions that arose in earlier auditions.
Audition Details:
All auditions are held in the Chapel.
Permission form & Student Info sheet must be turned in by auditions!
Return to Mrs. Hathcock in MS/HS office by Friday 11/13 (preferred).
You may bring forms to audition date—but prefer it turned in ahead so can be reviewed in advance.
Attendance is needed for the entire audition time.
Choreography / Performance Audition: Everyone will participate in a choreography session with Mrs. Holley.
This will be a group activity – all fun!!
We will look for energy, willingness to try, facial expressions…
Vocal Audition for Ensembles B & C: Mrs. Nichols will teach everyone the chorus to Our State Fair….group activity.
You will sing in small groups.
This is a musical—so want to make sure you are willing to sing!
Vocal Audition for Ensemble A: Come prepared to sing designated sections from the following songs (from State Fair): Our State Fair (guys)
It Might As Well Be Spring (gals)
That’s The Way It Happens (gals) Sheet music available in choir room; recordings available on website (Fine Arts Tab; Winter Musical)
Call-Back Audition: Vocal selections taught from the score.
You will sing in front of others called back.
Dramatic readings from the script.
Final Cast list will be posted on the TCA website on Monday 11/23 by 10:00 am.
TIME COMMITMENTS for CAST Directors may make adjustments and/or changes as needed.
Ensemble A (HS) See Attached Tentative Schedule.
3 days weekly plus 5 extra rehearsals
**Tech & Production Week: 2/27 – 3/3
**All 3 Performances
Due to difficulty of roles, music and earlier performance date, unable to work with any other winter conflicts. (occasional miss can be prearranged)
Ensemble B (HS / 8th): See Attached Tentative Schedule. 2 days weekly plus 4 extra rehearsals
**Tech & Production Week: 2/27– 3/3
**All 3 Performances
Due to demands of vocals, dance numbers, and earlier performance date, will work with MS winter sports but
unable to work with MS volleyball or for this ensemble group. Will not work with HS sports for this ensemble.

1 day weekly plus 3 extra rehearsals

We will attempt to work with cast members in the best possible ways – considering the entire cast’s needs
*This includes working with other school activities through compromise (neither activity always giving in).
*This does not include personal fun activities (ie sleepovers, dates nights, etc).
* Production week (Saturday 2/27 - 3/3) is mandatory.
Conflicts: Please list known conflicts with the above listed information; list on the attached student info sheet.
Note each particular ensemble requirements.
Conflicts will be taken into consideration when casting.
*In order to avoid Spring sport conflicts, we moved the musical date up by 2 weeks.
*Therefore, we will have a shorter time in which to produce a more difficult show.
FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS Cast:
$50 Show Deposit: due at the first rehearsal, Tuesday, 12/1.
This goes against his/her costume, script, t-shirt, props, etc.
Make checks payable to TCA—Winter Musical on memo line
Shoes: due end of February
All cast members will be assigned one of the following types of shoes: (used are fine!) Specific Flats Penny Loafter Black Character Shoe Black Dress Shoe (tie up for men)
Costume Pieces Your costume may require you to dig into your closet or thrift for a shirt, pair of pants, skirt, etc.
$50 Patron Support (minimum) – see bullet points below
Each cast member is responsible for raising a minimum of $50 in patron support to help offset production
costs (sets, costumes, makeup, hairpieces, programs, script/score rentals, rental of the NED, dinners, etc.).
This can come from family, businesses, friends….(in lieu of Ads from previous years).
A form detailing this will be sent home after Christmas break (& posted on Website).
All patron funds are tax deductible gifts to the TCA Fine Arts and will support this specific musical.
Names of donors/businesses will appear in the musical program.
Any student who DOES NOT raise this patron amount will owe the balance at the end of the production.
