NAPLAN NAPLAN has just been completed by the majority of our Year 3, 5 and 7 students. Congratulations to all the students on working hard and completing what can be a difficult and stressful time for some. I wrote a letter that was read to the students just before they sat their first test with a strong message about remembering that this testing is a small snapshot of what we know about them as learners. As a school we look to recognise the strength of our learners and use these to build on new learning. NAPLAN results traditionally are released in September, as a staff we will look at the results of our students and combined with all the other data we have, plan for building on strengths and needs for all students.

Room 6 Photography

In room 6 we have been learning about photography with Ms Paula. Over Term 1 and a few

weeks into Term 2 we have been working towards sharing our photography to our

community by displaying photos in the Tea Tree Gully Library.

Our learning was more than just taking photos,

it was an experience to learn and create some-

thing spectacular! We had to study lighting,

positioning and use editing tools to make an

OK photo into a brilliant photo.

Everyone had a different perspective on what

Modbury meant to them and therefore every

photo was unique in its on way.

We had to think about our connections to Modbury and

take lots of photos. We had to consider location,

angles, perspective and even the weather! By taking

these things into consideration it made our photos the

best they could be.

We had Paul visit from the Tea Tree Gully TAFE who

shared some of his photography knowledge and invited

us to view the TTG TAFE photography studio. Also,

Ian from Rising Sun Pictures visited, he critiqued our

photos and suggested different ways to edit using the

iPads.

Some photos had some really good quotes like

this one:

“You’ll always hit a stump in learning, but

sometimes it is that little stump that makes you

a lot smarter.” Tryphena

Here are some of the photos and feedback that we have taken.

After we took our photos we gave each other

constructive feedback. Then we embraced our

feedback and improved our photos by using our

editing skills.

We will soon display more of our photos in the

school library. Our class is also hoping to enter our

photos in the Royal Adelaide Show in September

2017.

We learn in different ways not just

with pen and paper

There is always something behind the scenes
