On July 9, 2015, a commercial shrimp fisherman caught a twelve-inch-long, giant tiger shrimp (Penaeusmonodon) on the St. Johns River in northeast Florida. It’s no longer unusual for shrimpers to catch tigershrimp, an invasive species from Asia, along the southeast and Gulf coasts of the United States, but one twelveinches long is rarity.
