To Promote “Study in Chinese Taipei”- Scholarships

Three categories of scholarships funded by the government: Chinese Taipei Scholarship Program for degree students

Tuition and payment of academic fees, including credit fee . Upon validationof tuition and above fees, the MOE awards each recipient per semester up toNTD40,000.

The MOE offers each recipient undertaking undergraduate studies a monthlystipend of NTD15,000; it offers each recipient undertaking postgraduatestudies a monthly stipend of NTD20,000.

MOE Mandarin Enrichment Scholarship Program

The MOE offers each recipient a monthly stipend of NTD 25,000.

MOE scholarship for subsidizing international university students

The MOE provided NTD 54,912,000 for 85 universities in 2011.

International Graduate Program-TIGPThere are 9 degree programs jointly offered by 7 universities and the Academia Sinica.

Industrial Technology R&D Master ProgramDegree programs offered by 52 universities/colleges supported by the MOE and the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

The Chinese Taipei Hostfamily Program was inaugurated in 2009 as volunteers across Chinese Taipei opened their doors to high school students and international college students from other economies.

Host families are responsible for providing their international student with shelter, food and friendship.

To Promote “Study in Chinese Taipei”- The Chinese Taipei Hostfamily Program

Characteristics of the Program

1. Provide free hostfamily accommodation for international students.

2. Establish a website for host families and international students.www.hostfamily.org.tw

3. Combine the resources of domestic schools at all levels with their communities in order to set up a perfect hostfamily system.

4. Enhance the recruiting, training and counseling of hostfamilies.

5. Deepen the effects of language learning and the cultural experiences of international students in Chinese Taipei.

To Expand International Collaboration - Projects

“Project for Promoting Internationalization at Universities” (since 2005) and “Development Plan for World Class Universities and Research Centers of Excellence” (5-Year-50-Billion, 2006~2010) encourages universities to

recruit renowned professors/scholars/researchers from overseas

attain membership in international organizations

exchange faculty, student and researchers with foreign universities

organize international symposiums and forums

The so-called “Five-year, NT$50 billion (US$1.73 billion) Project” aimed at boosting the quality of local academic institutions.

NTU (Chinese Taipei) achieved in 2011 the ranking of “87” within the world’s top 100, according to the THES-QS World University Rankings.

Secondary School Exchange International Project

Since 2004, one of the main objectives of the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Chinese Taipei has been to broaden our global outlook.

In 2009, therefore, the Secondary School Exchange International (SSEI) Program was launched as part of our policy for "Expanding Our Students’ Global Vision".

SSEI program, aimed at developing an international approach to secondary school education, was funded by MOE with the purpose of diversifying learning opportunities.

The SSEI project can be accessed via the website at http://www.exchange.edu.tw.

SSEI is comprised of two types of programs: Inbound & Outbound I. Visiting Chinese Taipei: international students coming into Chinese Taipei (Inbound)

II. Visiting From Chinese Taipei: Chinese Taipei students going to study abroad (Outbound)

Visit /StudyProgram

1. Participants: ages 15-18 students.2. Things We offer: workshops, Chinese and Online Learning and special skill exchanges.

Volunteer Program

1.Participants: overseas students; and international students in Chinese Taipei from undergraduate to graduate levels. 2.Volunteer Work: Teacher/tutor assistance, student counseling and affairs, library services.

Study Tours From Chinese Taipei

1. Participants: ages 15-18 students.2. Things We offer: workshops, Chinese and Online Learning and special skill exchanges.

Skills & Internship Tours From Chinese Taipei

1.Participants: overseas secondary schools and above, vocational training organizations, provide skill learning and internship experiences.

2. Program Content: professional foreign languages, work ethics, career opportunities, and business internships.

The FICHET, founded in 2005, integrating 3 Associations in Chinese Taipei: ANUT

APUC

APUCT

To participate in international education fairs worldwide and supervise overseas TWEC are main objectives.

Current Members: 118 universities/colleges

Purpose: to encourage students to participate in international affairs, to expand their horizons, both academically and personally, and to cultivate their sense of responsibility for humankind.

Services provided since 2006: hygienic services, IT initiation, Chinese teaching, community work, etc.
