ITINERARY 12-DAY EGYPT - ISRAEL TOUR

DAY 1 - (December 27, 2010) ATLANTAFRANKFURTDepart Atlanta on Lufthansa German Airlines to Frankfurt.

DAY 2 - (December 28, 2010) FRANKFURT/CAIROArrive Frankfurt and change planes to Cairo. Upon arrival into Cairo you will be met and transferred to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 3 - (December 29, 2010) PYRAMIDS OF GIZA/SPHINX/EGYPTIAN MUSEUM/NILE RIVERBegin your day with a visit to the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, followed by a visit to the Egyptian Museum which contains historical treasures from throughout Egypt’s rich history. Throughout the day you will see and cross the Nile River. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4 - (December 30, 2010) CAIRO/MT. SINAIThis morning we visit the Citadel of Saladin Mosque before departing Cairo to the hotel in Mt. Sinai for dinner and overnight.

DAY 5 - (December 31, 2010) MT. SINAI/DEAD SEAEarly this morning you will ascend Mt. Sinai by camel to watch the sunrise (the sight where Moses received the Ten Commandments). After descending the mountain you will transfer to the Israeli border and continue to your hotel in the Dead Sea area for dinner and overnight.

DAY 6 - (January 1, 2011) JERICHO/QUMRAN/MASADA/BET SHEAN/GALILEEEarly this morning you will have the opportunity to swim in the Dead Sea before departing to the ancient city of Jericho for a brief visit. Continue south along the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, to Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in 1947. Continue to Masada and ascend the ancient fortress by cable car to visit the ruins of the fortress where from 70-73AD the Jewish defenders made the last stand of the Judean revolt against Rome. As we head north, make a brief stop at Bet Shean, the legendary archaeological site, then continue to your hotel in Tiberias in Galilee for dinner and overnight.

DAY 7 - (January 2, 2011) BOAT RIDE/CAPERNAUM/TABGHA/JORDAN RIVER/BANIASBegin your day with a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee from Tiberias to Capernaum where you will see an ancient synagogue and St. Peter’s house which was later converted to a church. Visit Tabgha with the Church of Peter’s Primacy and the ancient mosaic of the Loaves and Fishes. Go to the Mount of Beatitudes where the Sermon on the Mount is remembered and visit the excavations at Tel Hazor. Continue to Banias, formerly Caesarea Philippi, where Peter said “You are the Christ”. Then to a baptismal site at the Jordan River. Pass by the Golan Heights enroute to your hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight.

DAY 8 - (January 3, 2011) TIBERIAS/CANA/NAZARETH/MEGIDDO/CAESAREA/JERUSALEM

Mary’s Well and the new Basilica. Continue to Megiddo, one of Solomon’s Chariot cities, to see the excavations and the Plain of Armageddon. Continue to Caesarea to see the Roman Acqueduct and Amphitheatre before ending your day at your hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

DAY 9 - (January 4, 2011) OLD CITY/CHRISTIAN SHRINESVisit the Model City of Jerusalem, the Western Wall, Temple Mount, the Dome of the Rock, the Pool of Bethesda and tour the Rabbinical Tunnel. Return to your hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

DAY 10 - (January 5, 2011) JERUSALEM/BETHLEHEMDrive to Mt. Zion to see the Tomb of King David and the Upper Room (Pentecost). Visit the Yad Vashem Museum (Holocaust) and the Shrine of the Book (Dead Sea Scrolls). Drive to Bethlehem to see the Church of the Nativity containing the cave-stable where Jesus was born. Return to your hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

DAY 11 - (January 6, 2011) MOUNT OF OLIVES/GETHSEMANE/VIA DOLOROSA /GARDEN TOMBDrive to the Mount of Olives for a wonderful view of Jerusalem. See the Place of Ascension, the Palm Sunday road, the Garden of Gethsemane, with its ancient olive trees, and the Church of All Nations. Drive down the Kidron Valley to see the Pool of Siloam and the Church of St. Peter, built over the palace of the High Priest Caiaphas. Walk down the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and end your day at the Garden Tomb. Return to your hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

DAY 12 - (January 7, 2011) JERUSALEM/TEL AVIV/FRANKFURT/ATLANTA
