The coronavirus has indeed upset the regu-lar rhythm of all facets of our lives. We are forced to review our priorities and follow entirely new uncertain path. During this difficult time, we place our trust in God who sent Jesus Christ into this world to save us. Jesus came to cure the ills of the world from its very root. We believe in Him as the answer to our current crisis. We pray for those who have lost their lives, those who are healing from the virus, medical personnel who are helping the affected, for those who have lost their jobs, and most importantly; for an end to this pandemic. Keeping you all in my prayers. Fr. Chumo

PRAYING FOR ALL YOU

In December, families in our Family Based Religious Education Program came up with their own way of being the image of Christ through serving others. Elijah Sieverding and his mom Stacey chose to make an impact for others in a couple of different ways. They, like other families, were impacted by the story of Jesse Reese, a 12 year old girl who was suffering with cancer. Jessie decided she wanted to do something to help bring JOY and smiles to other kids with cancer so she created “Joy Jars.” One way Elijah chose to participate was to purchase and donate “Penguin Beadeez” stress balls to the foundation for inclusion into the Joy Jars. Elijah and Stacey also decided to make an impact locally for homeless individuals

The church is open for private prayers daily, including weekends, from 6:00am to 7:00pm. People who come are asked to be mindful of the other faithful pray-ing to not exceed the number restrictions, and to be aware of personal space.

The Priest will celebrate Mass privately, in absence of a congregation, to fulfill all pre-scheduled Intentions.

Catholic Charities suspends Clothing closet and Walk-Ins for the next Month, and will not be accepting donations for clothing or housewares during that time. The front door of the agency will be locked, those seeking help are asked to ring the door bell and use the intercom system at the front door.

The faithful are encouraged—as they are able-to continue supporting their par-ishes financially by dropping off or mailing their Sunday offering to the parish office, via online giving or by saving their contributions until the celebration of public Masses resumes.

THE NEED TO KNOW

by helping the St. John’s Community Services. Formerly known as the Rescue Mission, St. Johns provides emergency housing to individuals and families that are experiencing homelessness. They also provide food and emergency food services to those in need. Elijah, his brother, Jordan, Stacey and others came together and collected coats, hats, gloves, warm socks, and non-perishable items for the shelter. They delivered two very large boxes of these much needed items. You too can help St. John’s by dropping off donations of non-perishable food and personal care items 9a-4p Monday –Friday at 618 West State Street, Ithaca.

RESPECT LIFE

Stations of the Cross

Communal Stations are cancelled.

Wednesday, March 25, is the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord and marks the 25th Anniversary of the papal encyclical, Evangelium vitae (The Gos-pel of Life), written by Pope St. John Paul II. This document on the value and inviola-bility of every human life remains an indis-pensable source of truth for all people. It reaffirms the greatness and the inestimable value of human life (DV2), and addresses present-day legal, ethical, and moral threats to life, including abortion, artificial repro-duction techniques, contraception, capital punishment, euthanasia, sterilization, and suicide.
