When new boys come to Wentworth, they quickly learn how important it is to

Wentworth Military Academy has a tradition known across the

country The historic campus has seen many changes in its time

but the main change is seeing new boys grow into young men

who will, as Old Boys, look back on their years at WMA with

pride and a sense of accomplishment. They learned what it

means to be dedicated to a cause, to face adversity unafraid, to

accept challenge with the knowledge that they can overcome it.

To be a member of the Honor Guard at WMA means you follow in a tradition established long before you were born. It is one that will endure until long after you have depar ted the g rounds of WMA.

A symbol of honor and integrity, the class ring of Wentworth Military is highly sought after and will be a bond for Old Boys.

Image The WMA look is paramount in both buildings and people so the changing landscape is always in the upgrade process.

Natural Cadet Allen and the other cadets get to spend time outdoors and snow is a novelty for some who attend WMA.

Teamwork Working together for the common good is part of the training at Wentworth. Foxtrot cadets shine up the doughboy under the direction of cadet Wesley for parent's weekend.

Military Wearing the colors of the wild, cadets make short work of a clean-up exercise prior to beginning a military maneuver under the direction of the ROTC command.

To Headquarters:

Give yourself a hand! This year was outstanding and I only wish we could have done more. We started this year with the best group of cadets I have ever seen, and it has ended even better. You have survived life in the busiest company on campus. Our ranks spanned from 9th grade to Junior College sophomore and we participated in almost every event on campus. Remember how hard it seemed learning the ropes of band combined with all the rest of everything everyone else does? You picked it up quick, and it sure looks easy now.

This year marks a turning point for Headquarters. We struggled with Dr. D's retirement, but then Mrs. Scott came to save the day. I'm sure we all agree that she has filled the Dr.'s shoes and more. From the men of the band I give a hand to Mrs. Scott!

Things to remember: Beating Battalion Staff in volleyball, the hallway party, the hated clip board of CPT Clown, Guns N Roses at full volume 24 hours per day, chow call from Evans, the big HQ in the snow, and remember what Alpha gets.

To the Falcons: Good luck at USAFA, I hope you get to fly someday. In the meantime, I'll be at a real school. To the MS students: Have fun ground pounding, my doubts about the Army are reassured by you. To House: The proudest may I know, I'll warn everyone to get out of the way when you're coming. To my favorite high speed men: Beal, Beyer, Dennis, Evans, Freeman, Janer, Ommerman, Ortega, Porter, Rose, Stover, and Sullivan, you are the men who really make this company work, we couldn't have done it without you. To Brown: Thanks for sticking there, you are a true member of HQ. To Dan, Bill and Jayson: You are the future leaders of America.

Remember, you made this year great. You made it especially good for me and I wish to thank you. For the best company on campus and that ever was, this is only the beginning.

Rockin' Steady,

John P. Stevenson C/CPT WMA HQ. Co. Commander

Alpha Company:

"Hey guys, listen up!" We have accomplished and grown up a lot this year. The last nine months have definitely been an experience for all of us. You have all done a good job, even those who left us to expand their Wentworth careers. Thanks to all of my Cadre' members past and present for surviving through the fights and parades, or for that matter, formations. Guys, don't lose sight of where you are going, stay focused, and don't forget what you learned here. Someday the memories here will mean a lot. None of you will ever be forgotten. Despite all the differences, as a whole, Alpha Company has done a good job this year. I wish you guys all the luck in the world in your future of conquering the world (lord knows you'll need it). We've made lifelong friends — stay in touch.

Lisa M. Pruitt C /CPT WMA A. Co. Commander Charlie Company:

As the year comes to a close, I think of all the things that could have been prevented. We have watched the closing of a magnificent era, the Charlie Company "Bad Boyz" and the beginning of a new era. This new era of choices that each individual must make. Whether to be a nobody or a somebody. With our ever changing society, we must be wiser in the decisions and choices we make and be willing to accept the consequences whether good or bad.

In order to recognize what has been lost, we must band together and remember who sets the standard.

Charlie Rocks, sir.

Timothy R. Zetterwall C/CPT WMA C. Co. Commander

Foxtrot

Dear Gentlemen,

You who helped make Foxtrot this year are the sole keepers of tradition. We found out that we could beat everyone in Academic, Discipline, and Athletic competition by taking all of the streamers, and we soared high at homecoming parade by winning the entire weekend events. No other company sounded better, looked better, or acted better than you F Troopers. It is not just my biased opinion, but the opinion of the other TAC's and faculty members. You now have the instilled discipline to help make Foxtrot an equally dominant company in the 117th corps and those thereafter.

As this year comes to an end, I would like every one of you to reflect back on this incredible journey you have taken. Never forget the "Kah Kah's" or the "Poorade Hut's," for the simple things will et you by. Never forget First Sergeant Malloy or Provost Carter, for it is important to keep your sense of respect. Each of you came to Wentworth for different reasons, but the end result has been the same. This year we have planted the seeds of discipline, respect, and supremacy in all that we do. Because we now know how to accomplish a goal that you set yourself, you are well on the road to becoming a fine young adult.

Seek to accomplish everything in a manner which reflects what you have learned this year, and do it in a way that will make you feel proud. Strive to attain that some pride you get when you pass an inspection, or when you sound off in the company's name. Remember that I said, "someone is always watching." I will now always be there to correct you, but instead you now have teachers, professors, and parents that are watching. Shine in their presence. Make them proud. When times are tough, never back down. Reach within yourself and pull out the feisty, bold, gallant ways of Foxtrot Company, look adversity in the eye, and Stay and Fight! Thank you to all my officers and Platoon Sergeants, and especially 1SG Malloy. You all helped make the year worthwhile. I will see you on the OK log, down by the hacker, the valley, the GoGoGo trail, the hoop, and the Jackie Chan Tree somewhere in the future. I love you, Foxtrot.

Brian Gerber C/CPT WMA F. Co. Commander

Battalion

Ladies and Gentlemen of the 116th Corps of Cadets:

We did it! No one could feel more proud of all of you than I do. We struggled through a tough year and came out with our heads in the sky. The price of victory can only come through the Avenue of Hard Work, and the taste of accomplishment is yours to savor. As you look back and see what we accomplished this year, you will find that many strides were taken to re-instill the traditions of old, as well as to create traditions of our own, that will last throughout the years to come. You all worked hard to complete the restoration of the Perkins Trail, as well as sacrificed to bring back the long lost Sunday Dress Parades. We gave up our precious Saturday morning sleep through to exercise our bodies, and bring us closer together, as we ran through the streets of Lexington and in Wikoff Field House.

As we all leave, I would like to take a minute to ask you to reflect upon what Wentworth really means. I speak from experience. Once you leave this great institution, you will feel sad and lonely; for you have not left a school, but you have also left a great family of friends and loved ones. Remember what you learned, not only in the Corps, but also in the classroom, because their will not always be a teacher, company commander or first sergeant to look after you and ensure your daily deeds get done. Never give in to self-pity. Step up to all of the challenges that you face in your daily life just as you stood up to the training you went through at Wentworth. As stated in our Cadet prayer, "... enable us to choose the harder path of right when we are tempted to follow the easier way of wrong." If you would think before you act, 99% of the time you will be correct in what you do. There is a quote that I used every day as Battalion Commander made by Abraham Lincoln during his tenure as President of the United States, in which he states the following: "If I tried to read, much less answer, all of the criticisms made of me and all the attacks leveled against me, this office would have to be closed for all other business . . . I do the best I know how, the very best I can. I mean to keep on doing this down to the very end." Therefore, DO YOUR BEST, TRY YOUR HARDEST, in all aspects of life, and you shall succeed. Thank you all very much for making the year of the 116th Corps of Cadets such a successful one. LONG LIVE THE 116th CORPS OF CADETS.

Sincerely,

George J. Hittner C/LTC WMA Battalion Commander
