The hostess announced that the flight would soon be

landing at the Dabolim Airport. As the plane is de-

scending I could feel my heart thumping with excite-

ment. Despite the uncomfort in the aeroplane due to

the chill off the air conditioner. I was at once com-forted by the sight of the twinkling lights of Goa. As I

had anticipated, the cool air welcomed we when we

step out of the plane. We took a taxi to the hotel and

quickly freshened up. Soon we were out for the walk on

the beach near the hotel. I sat down at a distance

from the shore but closed my eyes. The sea waves lap-

ping at my feet were roaring one moment and soften

the next. The experience was extreme soothing. The

next morning we hired a car and went to explored some

of the beaches. It was a bright day. The bright blue of

the Arabian Sea hit my eyes as the first beach came

onto sight. The glistening sand, the golden sun in the

sky, and all the blue trapped between the two created

    a spectacular sight.

    Question 4

    Read the text below.

Nowadays, soft reminders from the school authorities to obey and

follow the school rules often fall on deaf ears. Students feel that school

rules are a nuisance and that they cause more trouble than good. Howev-

er, students must understand that schools are public places and there are

    rules that govern public places.

Firstly, students must be punctual. Being punctual is one way to train

discipline to be on time. This is to reduce distraction during classes and

also allows the teachers to start the classes on time. If students were

late for classes, the teachers would have to wait for most of the students

to arrive before the class can begin. In countries like Japan, being late

for classes or any event is a sign of respect.

Secondly, uniforms have to be neat and tidy. Wearing a uniform that

is neat and tidy will present a good school image to the public. On the oth-

er hand, this helps students individually to improve their self -esteem as

students would be proud to be part of the school. For example, prestig-

ious schools in foreign countries have a very strict uniform policy and stu-

dents affiliate themselves with the school by holding their heads high

while wearing their uniforms.Thirdly, students should not litter indiscriminately as it clogs the

drains of the school. Throwing rubbish around the school grounds encour-

ages pest infestation. In addition, littering indiscriminately will ruin the

image the school. Students should be reminded to throw their rubbish in-

to the bins provided around the school grounds.

In summary, students are reminded to follow the school rules. Theschool rules are there to provide a good and conducive environment forlearning. Moreover, it is also to maintain proper order in the schoolgrounds.
