Your waste needs to be securely contained and placed at the front of your property within arm’s reach of the pavement, but not on it. If you use a bin for your non-recyclable refuse, please place it in a standard sized sack first. If you are presenting your batteries, small electrical items or textiles for collection, please place separate materials in separate household bags (but not a black sack). Ensure that each bag is loosely tied, and place them next to your green or black containers on collection day. Please only present one small bag each week as we cannot handle high volumes. Please note that our new fleet only collects one recycling material at a time, improving on the efficiency of collections. While all of your recycling and waste will be collected on the same day, some of your collections will be at different times. Ensure you leave out your recycling for our crews to collect until 5pm before reporting a missed collection. Here is your collection calendar, starting in April, showing your recycling and waste collection weeks. This calendar is for residents living in houses only as there are different collection arrangements for residents in flats. Litter bugHelp us keep Bromley tidy and only use street litter bins for small items. If you stuff a black sack into the bin, it can prevent others from using it properly and adds litter to the street.

Spring clean

If you’re having a clear-out

this Spring, you can arrange

for your larger items to be

taken away by our Bulky

Items Service. Prices start

at £36 depending on the

number and type of items.

See bromley.gov.uk to

book your collection.

One bag onlyThe cages on our vehicles can only carry limited volumes of textiles, batteries and small electric items. Please only present one small bag each week so that we can reach as many residents as possible.

Get funded! If you’re involved in a grassroots project in Bromley which encourages people to do the right thing with their waste, you can get funded with up to £1000 through Veolia’s Recycling Fund for Communities.

For more information or to apply to the fund, go to veolia.co.uk/london/recyclingfund

SustainablecelebrationRecycling facilities are unable to differentiate between recyclable and film-coated wrapping paper. If you’re celebrating someone’s birthday, why not opt for sustainable alternatives, and consider using brown paper or even upcycling newspapers into unique wrapping?

Collection Calendar

Lighting up the way to savings and reducing CO2 emissionsFinal designs and plans to upgrade around 4000 street lights are in place, with the work being completed late this year. The £1.124 million investment directly contributes towards the Council’s pledge to have net zero emissions by 2029. It is estimated that the annual energy cost savings will be approximately £300k. A review of borough wide emissions is also underway to assess further opportunities.

Treemendous work as 600 trees set to be plantedHundreds of trees are set to be planted in the coming months as part of the annual tree planting programme. This will supplement the approximate 103,000 trees the Council already cares for, with more trees being planted each year than those regrettably removed through disease. In addition, the Council manages hundreds of thousands of trees across over 1350 acres of woodland and conservation sites, contributing to the clean and green Borough that we are all proud to live and work in.
