Dear All,

I take this platform to greet all the readers for Ganesh Chaturthi, Durga Puja, Muharram, Dus-serah & Deepavali. The festive season is nearing it’s fag end & will reach it’s crescendo with the Diwali & thereafter lighten up the spirits with Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. Time has travelled fast & all of us witnessed unprecedented & impactful reforms in the past 300 days. Demonetisation ,Goods & Services Tax, cleaning of the non performing assets in the banking sector, complemented by tepid export performance resulted in the current slowdown in the past 2 quarters.

Against this backdrop & also due to the challenges on the product platform, our performance was lackluster. Scrutiny indicates that while minnows have performed reasonably well & clocked Growth , the performance of the Biggies, specially all offices of South are surely a major concern. Our competitors in South region grew between 14 to 16% . This inaction on sales front, left us with no choice but to redeploy our resources gainfully & usefully. Though Western Re-gion was passing through a bad phase, but they have put on their running shoes & the “”direction of the run is in the right direction. They were instrumen-tal in bagging our first DCS order & also made significant inroads in Water segment. Must compliment the shared Leadership. One of the failure of the team was it’s inability to enhance the success story of erstwhile GEMCO & the reasons are inexplicable. The most recognizable shining success was Service Sales , which not only provided growth , but opened new doors.

Our manufacturing is back on rails & with a “Feath-er ISO” on it’s cap. Our Project department is doing reasonably well but the sluggishness in the market wrt to New Projects is a matter of concern. We have successfully launched the SPF PLC’s & in a matter of two months it has provided early signs of promise. By the end of this quarter, New Micro Drive will make it’s presence felt. Also, PID Controllers availability will gather momentum, along with the new opportunities in Transmitters.

So, we are on the right track & with a bit of extra effort from all of us, we will be able to surpass the budgeted numbers.

Wish you a safe & prosperous Diwali.

Leaving aside the above, I wanted to update about the events that took place during the last two months which surely is an indication of vibrancy & our efforts in enhancing our visibility in the market place.

We participated in the “12th Edition of Automation Expo 2017” at Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC), Mumbai with the theme “AUTOMATION SOLUTION THROUGH IOT”. The Exhibition was held from 9th to 12th August, with 923 exhibitors, Co exhib-itors & representing companies. This exhibition overlapped with 4th Edition of Pharma Lytica @ Hyderabad on 11th & 12th August for which FEI deputed separate teams. The Hyderabad event was preceded by successful seminars on “Lift & Cranes” followed by “Integrating Solution of Data for Pharma Compli-ances” which was attended by the leading Pharma Houses of Hyderabad. The mentioned programs had fair representation from Factory Automation & Process Automation team from FEJ. Kudos to our entire community of Sales, Project, Prod-uct & Industry Marketing for carrying out the Herculean task. Many of them bagged the motivating Navratna awards.

Employees of our Drive Factory, Project, Manufacturing, HO & West 1 Regional office arranged a Company Picnic at Igatpu-ri- Rain Forest Resort on 18th August 2017. Employees had a great time, with various fun frolic activities DJ, Dinner & Dance Competition at night. 19th August morning was spent with various resort amenities, and indoor games. On team’s return journey, they paid a visit to an adjacent Jain Mandir.

It was a great way to rejuvenate & to amalgamate with other department employees & appreciate the togetherness.

ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Manufacturing & Service -Yogesh Dalvi

Congratulations to all, for becoming an ISO 9001 certified company. After establishing two production lines in FY2016, we decided to go for certification of ISO 9001:2015 latest revision. The purpose of going for certification is to demon-strate the ability of Fuji Electric India to manufacture and service of AC drives, provide after-sales services of products related to the traded products that consistently meet cus-tomer, applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

It is result of team’s hard work in making Quality Manage-ment System and implementing it as per guidelines of ISO 9001:2015 revised standard. The work started in Jan 2017 and it took 6 months to come to final shape before we invit-ed external auditors for 1st stage audit in July 2017.

TUV completed the final audit on 2nd of August. Process of all the functional departments were audited to check the conformity. Team of Auditor proposed to issue certification at the end of audit. It was great learning during this pro-cess. Some of the learnings are as below.....

1. Brought quality into the heart of our business2. Understanding of risk and opportunity management3. Integrated process approach – process interaction4 Leadership

The process approach involves the systematic definition and management of processes, and their interactions so as to achieve the intended results in accordance with the quality policy and strategic direction of the organization. Management of the processes and the system as a whole can be achieved using the PDCA cycle.

With this certification we are proud to be an ISO 9001 cer-tified company and I hope it should give all of us the confi-dence to promote FEI manufactured products and achieve business growth. This is the beginning and we strive for continuous improvement.

Compliments to the entire team for the enthusiastic sup-port which made the herculean task look easier! External Auditors Team with our QMS

core team while declaring result of Audit.

check of first piece of new product. This report includes evidence photo of each work instruc-tion. The report is sent to Mother Factory for evaluation. If found in conformity, then we re-ceive green signal for mass production.

Our factory is closely monitored and guided by Experts from Fuji Electric Manufacturing Thai-land Co. (FMT).

On 18th August 2017, President of FMT Mr. Na-kamura-san, Production Control Section - Ms. Banthita & Production Section Manager - Mr. Thanet visited our India Factory. Purpose was to review the progress and plan for future expan-sion for new product manufacturing lines at FEI Factory. We received good guidance from them for our planning of next manufacturing lines of E-HVAC & FRENIC-Lift Drives.

We shared our experiences with them during the visit. We continuously interact with them through teleconference and discuss weekly report. This is our strength for future develop-ments. I hope this information gives you confi-dence to sell more and more products and thank you for your support by loading our factory with many many sales orders.

Manufacturing Engineering – Subhash Chorghe

Hello Colleagues,

This is my first writing in FEEL. Hence, I am giving my introduction. I am working in Manufacturing Engi-neering (ME) section of FEI Drive Factory at Bhiwan-di. My job responsibility is to establish, maintain and improvise manufacturing line setup including all equipment. Implement product and process de-sign changes, analyse defects and take actions for continuous improvement as part of Quality Assur-ance function.

It’s been a year completed by our FEI Drive Factory. It was our just primary level orientation in manufac-turing area and it was great learning during this new area of experience for me. We learned first article checking, work time measurement, Line balancing in process line, Mistake proofing, 4M change, Engi-neering Change Request, Engineering Change Note, Work instruction sheets and many other manufac-turing engineering related terminologies.

Our product and process designs are controlled by Mother Factory, Japan. We at FEI Drive factory fol-low the documents religiously. Any change in design is communicated to us through ECN (Engineering Change Note).

We do the impact analysis and provide feedback to Mother Factory. After implementation of design change in our manufacturing we do the first article

I joined FUJI Electric India on 10th April 2017 with the intention of providing the Application & Sales/Service Support to our Central Region. My past experience was related to Application development, design & pre sales with Drive & Automation products. Since, Fuji Electric’s product domain is gigantic, I had to get acclimatised with the products in Instrumentation & Process Automation. It was a huge learning curve with these products since I was not @ all compatible with the same. I went through rigorous training program @ Drive Factory, Kolkata office & various sites. I’m very happy to say that I have passed with flying colours & happy to inform you that I have commissioned Gas Analyser/Ultra-sonic /Flowmeters/PLC/Drives in diverse industries/ applications in l Power Plant/Cement plant/Steel plant/Rice mills & Water segment.

Some of the applications are described below-

# MYCEMS COMMISSIONING AT STAR CEMENT MEGHALAYA-

We supplied Analyser with HMI, Heated tube with probe & cooling system. Except Analyser & HMI all others were third party supplied materials. We faced many challenge & difficulties to synchronise the third party materials with our analyser system. I had to do lots of Jugad @ site to make it functional Finally this system is running & we are providing analogue output of analyser for CPCB data.

# ULTRASONIC FLOW METER COMMISSIONING AT BALCO POWER PLANT-

The Ultrasonic flow meter installed at DM water plant in Balco CPP measures water used for distribu-tion metering purpose.

# FURNACE O2 OPTIMISATION SYSTEM AT LINGRAJ STEEL & POWER-

The purpose of system was to reduce scaling and save energy in reheat furnace by controlling air to furnace. The system comprises of O2 analyser/VFD/PLC/HMI. So, I was fortunate to get the experi-ence of all product basket in just one application.

# PLC & HMI PROGRAMING FOR RICE MILL APPLICATION-

The system consist of our PLC and HMI .The rice mill automation provide customer to control and also monitor the plant with accuracy and without time lag. The initial fear of the unknown has just vanished & I’m confident to handle bigger things. My opportunity with Service Sales is providing lot of opportunity for customer interactions & I’m really enjoying my job. There is a possibility that I will be operating out of Kolkata office for better logistics & I look forward for the same.

Happy with my learning-Biswajit Rout

India Corporate faced a huge challenge due to three critical blows which came in the form of Demone-tisation, GST Reforms & Bank’s non productive assets. All these led to a type of economic recession and recovery that resembles a “V” shape in charting - a sharp decline followed by sharp rise back to its previous peak. The case can be best understood by looking @ the two charts below which depicts the performance of West Region vis-a –vis All India Sales.

Both the trend curves are similar & had significant dip in June which was due to the effect of reduction in Inventories in the market for GST transition. It ploughed back to normalcy in July & is on the rise thereafter. Let’s hope the upward rise continues & we recover from the lost ground & indicate some growth. I am sure with the support and understanding of the team, H2 figures will be significantly better due to positive eco-nomic indicators. We need to help to pull up our bottom performers, gainfully deploy our resources & weed out the non productive assets.

Also, if we consider peak figures of West1 + West-2 during the last two years, then west can still grow up to 10 Cr per month and if we succeed in doing that , we will achieve desired milestone.

FEI kicked off the Channel Financing on Aug 10th 2017 and it’s positive impact can be seen in the Septem-ber sales results .Channel Financing helps steady and cheaper source for purchasing material from FEI, im-proves our cash flow and working capital. CP’s increase their purchase power, enhances their sales, eases in house documentation and approval procedures renders high service and delivery standards. Hence, partners can increase profitability. To launch the successful program, we had few challenges, which were overcome due to the deft handling of the situation. First challenge was the program handling fee, which was wrongly charged by the bank. The purpose of the “program handling fee from dealers was to recover a huge amount of one time program fee which FEI paid to the bank. FEI made all the efforts & coordinated with the bank to refund the amount to channel partners. The second challenge was the size of the corpus of the program which seems to be suddenly less, due to the sudden interest of the laggards who took time to evaluate the merits of the program . Bank have as-sured that on reaching the existing program limit.they will look into the extension of program limits. As an ongoing work, MIS reporting and reverse MIS reporting of dealers for their drawdown invoices will be done on weekly basis. Further work is on to provide online facility to all the registered dealers to send system generated emails and SMS on their registered mobile number. It’s a necessity to be in regular touch with channel partners and to have their essential feedback. FEI Channel department revived Samasya Nivaran or the Grievance Redressal System & included all the channel partners in the act on a quarterly basis. It’s an occasion to hear them, learn about their growth plans and receive constructive criticism to simplify the business process.. We have completed grievance redressal call to all the CPs in Q1 and work is in progress for Q2. I urge the functional business leader in Sales & Service to take an active part, either directly or through your representative for easy redressals.

Let’s make it “ Easy to Sell”!

Configured Drive Sales Tool – Mahendra Chalke

H1 has come to an end. It has giv-en us a tough catch up game to play with. Business teaches us “ If not the Top Line, monitor the bot-tom line”. So we are walking on tight ropes, carefully monitoring the Top as well as Bottom. Except LV Inverter, where the major Sales Force is, all other SBU’s are firing on all cylinders. GST had an im-pact of 45 days Sales but the last months result gave us the hopes of achieving the last years num-ber. The other good sign is the visibility of good project enquires in Infrastructure areas. Hence, we need to be nimble footed & agile to grasp those opportunities.

I urge the Supervisors to ensure that such helping tools along with the Vertical Domain Indus-try Catalogs are used by their Team Members. The tools must reach down the line.

So, my humble request is to preach & teach these to the fel-low members.

Happy Selling to reach the com-mitted numbers!!!!……….

To help our Sales to respond fast-er to the empanelled drive of-fer, our project team members worked hard to launch the Stan-dard Mega/ACE Drive Panel Price Indicator. More of it , has been shared during H1 review. Please note that, it is not a calculator but an indicator based on which the budgetary offer can be submitted within a short time. Thereafter detailed analysis can be done BY THE Proposal Engineering Team.

We hope that the Tool does not meet the same fate as our Instru-mentation Part Code & Price Cal-culator launched in 2015.

It is important to know the working of UFM to counter customer’s question of “do you have Mag Flowme-ters or Vortex”? If proper answer is not known, you will possibly lose a big pie of market. The article below will help you to answer the question meaningfully.

Ultrasonic flowmeters use sound waves to determine the velocity of a fluid flowing in a pipe. At no flow conditions, the frequencies of an ultrasonic wave transmitted into a pipe and its reflections from the fluid are the same. Under flowing conditions, the frequency of the reflected wave is different due to the Dop-pler Effect. The frequency shift increases linearly when fluid moves faster.

Transit time ultrasonic flowmeters send and receive ultrasonic waves between transducers in both the upstream and downstream directions in the pipe. At no flow conditions, it takes the same time to travel upstream and downstream between the transducers. Under flowing conditions, the upstream wave will travel slower and take more time than the (faster) downstream wave. When the fluid moves faster, the difference between the upstream and downstream times increases. The transmitter processes upstream and downstream times to determine the flow rate.

Our UFM uses hybrid of pulse Doppler method and transit time method and it automatically selects the measuring principle suitable for target fluid. Pulse Doppler method are suitable for opaque fluid while Transit time method is suitable for clean fluid.

Possible Applicable Areas ..............

Since UFM’s do not obstruct flow, it can be applied to sanitary, corrosive and abrasive liquids. Some ul-trasonic flowmeters use clamp-on transducers that can be mounted external to the pipe and do not have any wetted parts. Temporary flow measurements can be made using portable ultrasonic flowmeters with clamp-on transducers. Clamp-on transducers are especially useful when piping cannot be disturbed, such as in .......

• Having large applications for custody transfer. • Power and nuclear industry applications.• Civic water flow and waste water flow measurements.• Molten Sulphur flow measurements in Sulphuric Acid plants. • Flow measurement of cryogenic liquids, and chemicals.• Transit time designs are also available to measure gas and vapor flow. • Pharmaceutical industries preferring non-contact flow measurement.• Mining Applications.

The author would like to narrate his recent experience during his visit to Trichy. The Chief Engineer (Town Planning), was simply bowled over by the feature of clamp-on design, which could be installed without any disturbance to the roads which had just been laid. An immediate presentation was sought before a bigger gathering to appreciate the benefits and making specifications in the same direction.

Fuji UFM is a happy selling product if application & advantages are explained properly.

During my travel to various offices & also in my efforts to promote the transmitters, which has found it’s new life due to our aggressive stance & to sell application specific Transmitters rather than run of the mill apparatus, I felt the need of sharing an application which our team need to know & understand to provide a better solution for their customers. Most differential pressure transmitters used in flow applications today do not compensate for variables such as density, dis-charge coefficient, thermal expansion factor, and gas expansion factor. When pressure, tempera-ture, or flow rate change within the process, tra-ditional single-variable differential pressure (DP) transmitters cannot compensate for these er-ror-producing variables, thus reducing flow accu-racy. Our PXH process controller can do the appli-cation of continuously measuring flow (DP) using FKC while FKP/FKG performs flow compensation of the process variable to minimize errors in mea-surement and control of the flowing medium. SOLUTION-

Specify a PXH process controllers with the option-al math algorithm configured as multiplier/divider to automatically compensate the measured flow signal for variations in flowing temperature and/or pressure. The result of the math algorithm’s calculation is used as the process variable of the control loop. These controllers has the capabili-ty of measuring a thermocouple or RTD directly which eliminates a source of error and saves the cost of supplying a separate temperature trans-mitter. The application is illustrated below & I will be pleased to support you in promoting this prod-uct which can be a great differentiator in your Sales needs.

I will finish all my training by this month & there-after take up new assignment as the RE in Luc-know/ Kanpur. I’m really excited about the oppor-tunity where I can fully utilize my new learning & be a better engineer.

Chequered Path @ FEI – Arabind Singh

I joined Fuji Electric India Pvt. Ltd, Chennai on 4th July, 2016. I was baptized in Chennai OEM where I learnt about different types OEM application for Packaging machines, Conveyors, Hoists & many others. I must confess that the language was surely an impediment of my learning & customer intimacy. In June 2017, I was transferred to Kolk-ata which was a mix of EU & OEM Market. When I came back in Kolkata, I started addressing both OEM & End users business. I learnt about ‘’ Solar Pump controller ’’ business & visited solar cus-tomers @ Kolkata, Bhubaneswar & Ranchi. I also learnt about HVAC applications. I visited to Ma-hanadi Coalfield ltd, @ Talcher taught me about Colliery & it was surprising to see gigantic shovels all fitted with FE ED&C products.

While in Kolkata, an opportunity cropped up in the Hindi Belt of UP & UK as Resident Engineer located @ Kanpur/Lucknow. I grabbed the oppor-tunity & now I’m certain that language will not be a barrier for business transaction. At present, I am going through an explosive training program in Ghaziabad, where I’m testing the Filatex drive panels. 1. VFD panel continuity testing 2. VFD programing 3. BOM selection4. VFD communication with DCS

It’s two months, since the Fuji's prized product Micrex SX SPF was launched. After a laborious week’s of trainings by Ogasawara San from FEJ and myself, we sent out free SPF CPUs to the CPs who were a part of the trainings. As soon as SPF reached the market, it had mixed responses. In some cases people were skeptical about the per-formance & it’s software handling methods. In some cases its limitations were challenged bcause of the familiarity of the past product. Soon the challenges were won over & our dedicated team rose to the occasion, addressing the migration needs. I take pleasure in sharing two Wins----

1. In a system, SPF was able to achieve MODBUS ASCII communication with a third party load cell displaying the data in the true data format(ASCII to decimal values).

2. In SPM Machines(grinding applications), SPF with Fuji Servo System achieved proper homing operation on rising contact of Limit Switch. There were many doubts from engineers regarding operat-ing the SPF. The questions & applications were com-piled & a revised FAQ sheet prepared and shared with Technical Help desk, regional application and sales engineers. I hope that this tool has reached the Channels. My sincerest thanks to the members in Sales,Tech Desk, Application Engineering, Vishal Dave, Supply Chain & the Team of Application En-gineers whose untiring efforts made us rise to the Himalayan Heights.

In a short time of two months we are on the path of recovery & with the present trends, we will be close to last year in spite of 4 months of “ Product Fam-ine” Help us with your forecast & SPE dilution.

D & A Project Department invigorates fresh brains when they engage with us for the Internship. The program helps them in maturing themselves & come to terms with the real industrial world. They get a chance to interact with the customer direct-ly or through phone or mail. Interns build their confidence by facing the customer as well as presenting their study in front of management. This year we engaged Rushi Patel – the intern, for building Project Referrals in D&A project. The task con-sisted of collecting all the details viz Project name, PO No./,-Date, Application, kW, Contact details and also to collect the Appraisal Letters from the customers. The Intern could interact with people within the Project Department, Sales & Customers to obtain the project details. Our Project team guided him to interact with the customer with the sole objective of obtain-ing customer feedback of FEI’s performance. Rushi received mix feedback from the customer. Some customers were kind enough to listen to him while others were rude saying that they needed some more time to provide the feedback. Rushi enjoyed the experience and as per him he learnt a lot in communication & understanding the buyers/ users attitude.

A sample of his work is shared aside. Those who want copies of referrals can contact Darshana & also urge Sales & Service Engineers to populate our Credential records.

Getting the most out of an Intern - Nilkanthrao Deshmukh

In the past, I was working to develop the UP/UK ter-rain & Gwalior. Success had just in when I was asked to look after the automobile belt , i.e. mainly the Gur-gaon-Neemrana belt, which was dotted with Japanese companies along with wires & cable customers. Some of the named customers are Indo Asahi Glass, Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Yokohama, Toyoda Gosain and many more such customers.

The new role which was given to me was no doubt a challenging & exciting one with full of opportunity for each & every FE component. Coping up with such di-verse product range including CMS was challenging & I had to put extra efforts to learn the same. It was also a barren region without a dedicated Channel Partner. It was more of an opportunistic approach rather than the act of development. So, the first action was to develop prospective CP’s for the assigned territory & I’m proud to inform you that with the guidance of many, I could develop two prospective Channel Partners in the form of M/s J. B. D. S. Power in Manesar & M/s Vision Au-tomation & Robotic Solution in Gurgaon.

Today they are working hard to have their con-tribution in the growth of Fuji Electric business.

After development of prospective CP’s the next task was to introduce self & Fuji Electric in the market. Though we have mapped major auto-motive & their ancillaries but still we have to travel miles to harness the huge opportunity.

Japan Desk, CMS, Service Sales & ED&C helped me to open many doors .As on date we have re-ceived orders from major automotive custom-ers like Maruti Suzuki, Honda Cars, Yokohama Rubber, Asahi Glass. Proud to say that FE Brand is significantly recognized in my territory.

Dear friends, You would have noticed the feathers that our finance community have added to FEI’s crown. Amongst the many, the two documents which are highly relevant in the sales domain are –

• MSME • Crisil Performance & Credit Rating

I take pleasure in sharing the communication that we received from Crisil –

Quote

“This has reference to our letter communicating the CRISIL Rating for your company. Congratula-tions on getting a CRISIL Rating and thanks for availing the rating services of CRISIL. We would like to give you a few suggestions on how you can get the maximum from the CRISIL rating.

As you are aware, CRISIL is a majority-owned af-filiate of Standard & Poor's, a division of The Mc-Graw-Hill Companies. Standard & Poor's is the world's foremost provider of financial market in-telligence, including independent credit ratings, indices, risk evaluation, investment research and data. CRISIL assigns ratings after considering and analysing all aspects of the rated entity, A CRISIL rating is therefore of key relevance for all stake-holders of your company such as lenders, cus-tomers, suppliers, regulators, and employees. Some steps you can take to get maximum benefit from the rating are:

• Furnishing of the rating report to existing and prospective lenders like banks and institutions so that interest rate and other terms can be scientif-ically determined.

• Communicating the rating to your customers, suppliers and dealers, by displaying the rating as-signed by CRISIL on:

o Letterheads o Visiting cardso Brochures o Websiteo Signboards o Office / Factory premises

Making the most of CRISIL Rating - Vijay Dhakate

Communicating the rating to all the associations your company is affiliated to---

• Displaying the rating as a part of standard signature lines in your email communications.

• Including the rating report in all tender documents and proposals.

• Inform the employees - this will increase their pride and comfort level of working in an organisation which follows best practices.

• Inform the marketing staff with a message that they should use it as an additional tool for marketing your company's products and services.

These steps will build confidence among all constituents dealing with your company, and lead to better perfor-mance and prospects for the company.”

Unquote: The documents of MSME & Crisil as stated above are great Sales Tools in our hands. Please use the same judi-ciously & gainfully.

Good Luck! Happy Selling!!!

Rendezvous @ Rainforest Resort, Igatpuri - Ashes Nandi

Mumbai, popularly known as the ‘City of Dreams’ offer many team outing places that make the perfect setting for the company members to bond. FEI’s corporate picnic in Rainforest Resort on 18th night and 19th made this happen for us. It provided a perfect environment to reinvigorate, re-new, regenerate & revitalise the commitments that we all have for each other & to the corporate as well as the Society. It was a small pause in our worked-out lives & crammed up routines.

Positioned in the proximity to our Bhiwandi office, Rainfor-est Resort gave its best to make our corporate trip memora-ble. Singing, dancing and enliven our spirits in the Mountain Hall of the resort with a made-up stage, music DJ and other party accessories made the trip complete.

It was over here that we got to indulge in indoor and out-door team building activities that were fun and adventur-ous. Sojourn amongst scenic locations, it engaged the team in exciting activities such as rain dancing, swimming, trek-king amongst the green vegetation, bird cacophony & fresh breeze.

It gave us the opportunity to get familiar with our co-workers while reuniting and encourage team building by dance com-petition, group swimming, trekking and promote a sense of community within our corporate team.

We are thankful to FEI HR & Admin for initiating and actual-izing the entire event with the best of success.
