Preparation • You will need 1 tarpaulin per team. The size of team/ tarpaulin depends on the number of children in the session. Tarpaulins should be big enough to allow success, but small enough to offer a degree of challenge. Challenge Outline Space the tarpaulins out on the ground and pretend that each tarpaulin is a lily pad floating on a pond. Each group are to sit or stand on their lily pad. Unfortunately, their lily pad is getting a bit soggy and they need to turn it over without entering the pond (without stepping off their tarpaulin). The children have to communicate as a team how to turn their tarpaulin over whilst their whole group remains standing on some part of it! If one of their group steps off, they need to start again! Solution The children will have to move to one end of the tarpaulin whilst the other end is turned over and laid out at a different angle.
