Channel Discharge(luahan air sungai)

Magnitude & Frequency of floods

1. All flow events measured from stream-gauging stations can be arranged in order of their magnitude of discharge (unit: m3/s)

2. Plot on a discharge-frequency curve by deriving the recurrence interval (R) for each flow using this formula:-

R = masa perulangan kejadian banjir (recurrence interval), tahunN = bilangan tahun rekod (Number of years of record ) M = Rank of individual flow in the array

Magnitude & Frequency of floods

Aliran air tertinggi yang pernah berlaku untuk rekod data selama 9 tahun bagi sebuah sungai ialah sebanyak 280

m3/s. Kira nilai masa perulangan kejadian banjir(recurrence interval)?

•Banjir dengan magnitude sama atau lebih dari 280 m3/s dijangka berlaku setiap 10 tahun; juga dipanggil sebagai 10-tahun banjir (10-year flood)

•Keberangkalian untuk 10-tahun banjir berlaku untuk setiap tahun ialah 1/10 atau 0.1 (10%).

•Keberangkalian untuk 100-tahun banjir berlaku untuk setiap tahun ialah 1/100 atau0.01 (1%).
