Welcome Welcome to old Windsor, celebrating the 10th European, Mediterranean and Middle Easter Conference on Information Systems (EMCIS2013). It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the 10th EMCIS anniver-sary in 2013 hosted by the Brunel University (UK). EMCIS - is an annual research event addressing the IS discipline with regional as well as global perspective. EMCIS has successfully helped bringing together researchers from around the world in a friendly atmosphere conducted to free exchange of innovative ideas. EMCIS was first founded by Brunel University research Group ISEing and colleagues from Brunel Business School took the responsibility of organising this event every year. A number of respected collaborations were made with different local universities across the destinations cho-sen each year and EMCIS still proves to attract many further partnerships. Zahir Irani is Professor of Operations and Information Management. He is currently the Acting Dean of the

School of Professional Development, and Head of Brunel Business School. Having worked for several years as

a project manager, Professor Irani retains close links with industry. He consults for the Office of the Deputy

Prime Minister (ODPM) in the UK as well as international organisations such as HSBC, Royal Dutch Shell Pe-

troleum, BMW and Adidas. He has also taken part in UK-Government funded trade missions to the Middle-

East and Gulf region. Professor Irani reviews research proposals submitted to UK funding councils, European

Commission and the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the USA. Professor Irani leads a multi-disciplinary

group of International PhD students that research information systems evaluation and application integra-

tion. He has been recognized as the Hooker Distinguished Professor at McMaster University (Canada) as well as being a Visiting Profes-

sor at several Universities.

He is the editor-in chief of the established Journal of Enterprise Information Management and European Editor of the Business Process

Management Journal. He has co-authored teaching text-books and written almost 200 internationally refereed papers and received AN-

BAR citations of research excellence. He has spoken at conferences and guest seminars world wide, and is internationally known for his

scholarly work in the area of information systems evaluation and application integration. Professor Irani is on the editorial-board of

several journals, as well as co and- mini-track chair to international conferences. He has edited special issue journals, and publishes his

scholarly work in leading journals that include: IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Information & Management, Informa-

tion Systems Journal, Journal of Management Information Systems and European Journal of Information Systems. Professor Zahir Irani

has received numerous contracts, grants and awards from funding bodies that include the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research

Council (EPSRC), Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Royal Academy of Engineering, Australian Research Council (ARC),

QinetiQ, Department of Health and European Commission.

Keynote Speakers

Mustafa Özbilgin is Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management at Brunel Busi-

ness School, Brunel University (London, UK). Drawing on his research on equality, diversity and inclusion at work

from comparative and relational perspectives, he has published more than 10 books and large number of journal

articles. His most recent book, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (Edward Elgar) brings together papers from over

30 scholars in the field and his other text, Global Diversity Management (co-authored with Ahu Tatli, Palgrave)

provides evidence from international field studies. He has authored and edited ten books and published large num-

ber of papers in journals such as Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Learning and Educa-

tion, British Journal of Management, Human Resource Management (US), Journal of Vocational Behavior, Interna-

tional Journal of Human Resource Management, Human Relations, Gender Work and Organization among others.

He is the Editor-in-Chief of the British Journal of Management (Wiley-Blackwell, 2010 to date) and he serves as an associate editor for

Gender Work and Organization. He sits on the Editorial Advisory Boards of the Academy of Management Learning and Education

(AMLE), Journal of Managerial Psychology and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: an international journal among others. Having worked

at University of Hertfordshire, University of Surrey, Queen Mary, University of London and University of East Anglia over the last 12

years, Professor Özbilgin has held visiting posts at the Cornell University (USA), CEPS-Instead (Luxembourg), Japan Institute of Labour

Policy and Training (Japan). He currently holds visiting professorships at the University of Paris (Pantheon-Assass) and Dauphine Uni-

versity in France and St Gallen University in Switzerland. He is also the founder of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: an international

conference (EDI).
