GENERAL INFORMATION

The 10th European Conference on Turbomachinery Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics (ETC 10) is held in April 2013 in Lappeenranta (FIN), beginning on Monday, April 15 and concluding on Friday, April 19. The 5- days technical program is supplemented with a series of social events over the week fostering international friendship, discussions and collaborative ventures.

CONFERENCE VENUE

The conference will be held at Lappeenranta University of Technology Green Campus, which is situated 7 kilometers from the city center (see map on last page). The registration is at the main entrance adjacent to the Viipuri Hall, where the invited lectures take place every morning. The auditorium is the University’s largest hall and offers room for up to 500 people.

The 25 conference sessions will take place in three lecture halls at the third floor of the University, not far from the main entrance.

Conference Registration and Information Desk

The registration desk will be open from 8:00 AM until the early afternoon, from Monday, April 15 till Thursday, April 18 at the conference venue.

Conference Proceedings

The conference proceedings will be available on-site for attendees. A limited number of additional copies will be available on-site for 50 €, as well.

Updated Information will be available on the conference website www.etc10.eu.

THE CONFERENCE

Final Conference Technical Program

The final technical program is included in this brochure.

Speaker’s Briefing

The authors who are presenting their paper and the session chairs will meet for a short briefing fifteen minutes before the start of their session in the session room. Please attend on the day of your session only.

Time of Presentation

Each paper will be allocated 30 minutes (including introduction and question-and-answer period) except where noted otherwise. Concurrent sessions will maintain uniform starting times.

Audio-Visual Equipment

Each session room will be pre-set with the following equipment: an overhead projector, a computer projection system, a screen, a microphone and a PC (Windows 7, MS Office 2010, Adobe Acrobat Reader). Special audio-visual equipment which has been requested in advance will be available.

Messages and Information

Messages will be ordered and posted on the bulletin board in the registration area. The telephone number for reaching Local Chairman Jari Backman is 040 844 8414 and you can call any time.

5

Internet

Free WLAN access is provided in the conference venue. Personal account and password information can be found from your conference bag.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is not allowed in the conference venue. There are separate smoking areas outside the main building.

Restrictions

Video-taping or audio-recording of any session during this conference is prohibited. The sale of any publication not authorised by ETC10 is also prohibited.

Coffee breaks

Coffee, tea and small snacks are served during the coffee breaks in the morning and in the afternoon in the conference venue for free.

Lunch

Lunch coupons are provided for participants with full registration and day visitors to be used at the University Restaurant next to the Viipuri Hall. There is table space reserved for all conference participants. Please note the lunch is served buffet style.

The menu for lunch and coffee breaks is available at conference notice boards.

Next to the university main building is an alternative restaurant.

Information on the restaurants in Lappeenranta can be found at www.etc10.eu web site. Feel free to make your choice.

Travelling between hotels and the University

For your convenience, a free shuttle service will operate between Lappeenranta hotels and the University. A shuttle bus will depart for the conference in the morning and another will return to the city center in the evening after the last session on Monday 18.30 and other days at 18.45. The buses leave from the main entrance.

The morning buses will leave at the following times from the following hotels.

Route 1 Route 27.30 Spa Hotel 7.30 Hotel Cumulus7.35 Hotel Patria 7.35 Sokos Hotel Lappee8.00 LUT 7.45 Finnhostel Huhtiniemi 8.00 LUT

There are city bus connections to and from the university from the downtown area. Most of the bus drivers do not speak English, and you will need exact change or close to it. The one-way bus fare will be about 4€. Buses leave from downtown to the university every 15 minutes.

City bus stops are identified by a yellow rectangular sign with a picture of a bus. Buses 1 and 5 all travel back and forth between downtown (keskusta) and the university (yliopisto). The best place to catch the bus from downtown is the Town Centre Bus Stop (see map on last page), which is a 5 minute walking distance from all downtown hotels. The University is the last stop and hard to miss.

To get around town, you can find excellent taxi service. A taxi from downtown to the university costs about €15. There are taxi ranks in front of the main post office, at the railway station, and in the market place. The telephone number to reserve a taxi is 0200 60 400
