GRAPHIC STANDARDS
03/2010
Welcome to the Manheim Graphic Standards Guide. This how-to reference outlines the proper use of the key visual elements associated with the Manheim brand. Adhering to these specifications brings consistency to our corporate identity and helps the brand stand out in a crowded marketplace.
The pages ahead address the foundational aspects of the brand – logos, colors and type fonts -- as well as their practical application within varying templates. Readers will also learn to visually distinguish the logotypes of Manheim departments, units, branded locations, initiatives, etc., and apply them as needed.
We encourage you to review these graphic standards in their entirety and keep it handy as you prepare your marketing materials. Thank you for your ongoing dedication and proud representation of the Manheim brand.
If you have questions about this document, or need clarification, please contact Tom Rogers at [email protected].

Manheim Corporate IdentityManheim’s corporate brand mark, made up of our “Manheim” name in Bembo font and/or our “M” medallion, is the cornerstone graphic symbol that represents the entire entity of Manheim to all stakeholders (customers, employees, partners, etc.).
Manheim LogotypeThe Manheim corporate logotype is defined as “of or pertaining to our entire business, comprising all legal entities, departments, units and employees assigned to it.”
Manheim MedallionThe Manheim Medallion is a CMYK illustration with continuous tones and various gradients. There is not a PMS or CMYK conversion for this gradient. If a PMS or CMYK color is needed for reproduction, reference one-color logotypes listed on page 9.
Brand Overview 4
Color Palette 5
Logo Colors andSupport ColorsManheim identity colors are five specific colors referred to as Manheim Blue, Manheim Gold, Manheim Grey, Black and White. They represent a distinct color signature for Manheim. It is intended that these colors be used generously and consistently in Manheim communications.
Manheim Blue, Manheim Gold and Manheim Grey should be used predominantly, Black and White used moderately. White backgrounds are desirable for Manheim logo display. Dark backgrounds may be used with the Manheim logotype in white.
Note: The Manheim colors are designated as “Manheim Color”. In lieu of the designated Manheim colors, you may use the Pantone* equivalent that is provided.
A limited range of support colors are available for use with the primary Manheim colors. The support colors are intended to complement and add color richness to brand applications when used with Manheim colors. The support colors are available in two palettes, light and medium, all in the same color range with the primary brand colors. They may be used in a variety of ways, such as color-coding or in special promotions. Use as appropriate, however. Support colors should never dominate or compete with the primary colors.

Manheim Corporate FontsThere are two Manheim Corporate fonts that are approved for use with corporate messaging: Frutiger and Bembo. Frutiger should be used most commonly in corporate communications, and Bembo used only sparingly. Bembo is the font used in the Manheim Corporate logo and new internal logotypes, and excessive use of the Bembo font outside of logo treatments will dilute the brand.
If you do not have the Frutiger and Bembo fonts, you may purchase only those specified fonts through font provider Veer. Visit www.veer.com and login with Manheim’s account number: XXXXXX.
Select the fonts and weights that you need. Specify the font format that will run on your computer and design programs (reference user guides if assistance is needed) and add to cart. Once in your cart, choose the number of font licenses you need (i.e., the number of computers that will use the fonts) and continue checkout.
NOTE: Font files should NOT be shared with any parties aside from those who have a license to use the fonts.

Alternative Use of Manheim’s Corporate Brand MarkThe aforementioned Manheim corporate logotypes are the preferred logo for all media types as it represents our brand.
However, in some instances, thecircle “M” logo could be used as an architectural embellishment as approved by Manheim corporate. In these applications, the circle “M” logo should only be used where the audience is totally Manheim aware, such as trade shows or Manheim corporate-owned locations.

Manheim Corporate Department Identity Standards 11
Corporate DepartmentsCorporate Departments are an official primary staff function (as designated by Manheim’s president, regardless of reporting relationships) with an assigned leader (typically an EVP, SVP or VP) and full-time dedicated employees, sub-units, teams and initiatives. Corporate departments may have external-facing elements to them, but are more often internal functions dedicated to internal customers.

Manheim Corporate Unit Identity Standards 14
Corporate UnitsCorporate Units are formal, non-temporary departmental teams or groups with a designated leader and assigned staff. Examples could include the Accounting group within Finance, the Compensation team within People Strategies, etc.
While logos for corporate units are permitted, they should be rare. Rather, these groups should in most cases adopt the logo of their corresponding corporate department unless the department head agrees there is a good business case to create a stand-alone logo (and the logo conforms to the Manheim brand architecture).
Shown are the latest Corporate Unit logotypes. For an up-to-date listing and file downloads, visit www.proofingsite.com.

Manheim Branded Location Identity Standards 17
Branded LocationsBranded Locations are physical Manheim operating locations where business with consignors, buyers and customers occurs. The locations represent the core of Manheim’s business – the facilitation of buying and selling used vehicles.
As the core of Manheim’s business, branded locations have the closest interaction with customers on a day-to-day basis, with dedicated staff and an individual P/L. Collectively, these groups provide the most exposure for the Manheim brand.
Shown are a sampling of the latest individual branded location logotypes. For an up-to-date listing and file downloads, visit www.proofingsite.com.

Initiatives Logotypes InitiativesInitiatives are internal or external-facing efforts or groups smaller than a Manheim corporate department or corporate unit. Initiatives are usually temporary in nature, and are designed to achieve specific measurements/metrics (e.g., improve efficiency, reduce paper usage, increase trial of a service). While some initiatives are designed to be revenue generators for Manheim, initiatives are typically not standalone products or services, but may be designed to support existing products, services or corporate directives.

Advertising TemplatesManheim has created templates for use across multiple advertising mediums in a variety of sizes according to specification of the media required.
The format features a “Manheim blue bar” that runs across the top of the ad, with the Manheim logotype at the right on white space. A narrow Manheim Gold band separates the top branding space from the larger customizable area.
The bottom of each ad space has an open space for location logo and contact information, consign or logos and disclaimer verbiage (if needed) called the “footer bar”. It is separated from the ad placement space by a thin Manheim Blue stroke, and may use a vertical stroke to separate items horizontally.
The Manheim Blue Bar vertical height should never be more than 15% or less than 5% of the overall ad height.
The footer bar should also maintain a 5%-15% vertical height of the overall ad height. The footer bar also features a vertical Manheim Blue stroke that may be moved horizontally along the footer bar span to separate disclaimer copy, logos, location information, etc. It may be removed if desired.

PowerPoint® FormatThere are many schools of thought for what best practices make up an ideal PowerPoint presentation, most of which have valid points. These guidelines are designed to give you the flexibility to customize a PowerPoint to your individual needs and presentation style.
Here are some tips to keep in mind:
• Include slides for your introduction and conclusion.
• Incorporate specific and meaningful headers for each slide.
• Remember not to read directly off your slides – they are not a script.
• Treat PowerPoint merely as a visual aid. It should never overshadow the presenter.
