SWSRA NEWS SWSRA has been busy, busy, busy this past month doing a variety of crafts, science experiments and fun physical activities. ATP has taken ad-vantage of the warmer weather by taking our groups outside to walk to get some fresh air and sunshine on our faces for the first time in 2018! Some groups have enjoyed constructing St. Patrick's Day and spring crafts. We are looking forward to doing more activities outside when the spring weather arrives. SWSRA Fun Fact: On Friday’s we are all able to join together in the adjoining gyms for what we call “Fun Friday’s”. It’s a day for the participants to be able choose what they like to do out of the options that we provide for them. In one of the gyms we always set up the movie screen for the participants to get their groove on and play Just Dance. We recently purchased a karaoke machine to go along with that for the students to sing along while dancing the day away. SWSRA’s Spring season has started, but it is not too late to sign up for Special Olympics Softball! We also have many fun special events to still sign up for such as; Gizmo’s Fun Factory, Walk, Run or Roll Race, and SWSRA’s Spring Formal! You will not want to miss out on these great events! Are you looking for something to keep your student busy during summer? Remember that SWSRA offers multiple options for day camps at affordable rates. You are considered a resident of SWSRA when you are participating in ATP which gives you even better prices for programs, events, and camps! SWSRA has made new changes to the structure of camp to provide even more fun than before! Day Camp Registration be-gins on March 5th – April 27th. Do you enjoy going to dances with your friends? Join us for SWSRA’s Annual Spring Formal on May 18th from 6:30pm – 9:00pm. Registration re-quired through SWSRA no later than April 27th. The discounted fee for ATP students is $30 per person. This includes admission to the dance, a full catered dinner, DJ music all night, and a photo. We will crown a King, Queen, and court at the end of the night. You will not want to miss this night! You can check out the Spring/Summer brochure at www.swsra.com or call 708-389-9423 for more information.

Week of March 19-23 Hoang-Chuong Vuong continues to enhance his work skills

while job training at Moraine Valley Community College (MVCC) and Lighthouse Church. Every Monday you can find Hoang-Chuong hard at work in the maintenance de-

partment of MVCC.

On Tuesdays, Hoang-Chuong stocks shelves and cleans the pantry at Lighthouse Church. Chuong recently stated, ‘I love going to work because I have the BEST job coach-es’!!! We love to collaborate on work ideas with Hoang-

Chuong just like Lady Gaga and Beyonce did with Chuong’s favorite song ‘Telephone’.

Week of March 12-16 Kelly Jagust deserves a High 5 with her amazing work ethic!!! Kelly does not stop working from the time she gets to ATP until she goes

home. When she is not prepping and serving food for Chartwells you can

find Kelly in the High 5 Apparel Room. In the High 5 setting, Kelly has the embroidery machines going non-stop. She fulfills numerous cus-

tomer orders and her creativity is inspiring and contagious! When Kelly is not working on the embroidery machines, she is often found helping her peers create new products on the adhesive vinyl cutter. ATP students and staff, always, seek out Kelly when they need extra

support. Kelly is a true ATP role model. In her free time, Kelly is usually

spending time with her beloved dog, Lenny. Kelly- everyone at ATP applauds you and thanks you for going above and beyond. Lenny

sure is one lucky dog to have you in his life.

Week of March 5-9 Kevin job trains at Moraine Valley Community College (MVCC). At

MVCC, Kevin performs maintenance duties. According to all his job coaches, Kevin is hitting a grand slam into the world of work! Kevin comes to work with a smile on his face and he always tries

his best. Everyone at ATP, is cheering on Kevin as he continues to learn new work skills.

Monthly Activity Fees: $10 per month Each month activities are planned for students to participate in. These activities are beyond the curriculum and have extra costs involved (shopping for ourselves, eating a special lunch out, holiday celebrations). We ask that our students bring $10 a month in to cover these vari-ous activities. Activity payments by check are due to school no later than the first Friday of the month. Please make the outside of the envelope states: MONTHLY ACTIVITY—STUDENT NAME. Group Identification: Classes are broken down by groups. This allows us to communicate with smaller groups of students and parents in a more effective manner. The groups are: (We will notify you of what group your student is in.
