What is a game?Jesper Juul in The Game, the Player, the World: Looking for a Heart of Gamesness identifies six characteristics that that games have – what he calls ‘gamesness’: Choose three games and see if they fit into these characteristics. Try and find at least one game that doesn’t fit the criteria.

when you set all the birds free you move up levels

Reward a team 3 points if they score more goals then the other team, in a league

when you reach enough platforms you gain more points and get some platforms that can make you jump higher.

4. The desired outcome requires effort

The birds will not be set free on there own

The Football will not fall into the net on its own

The character will not reach over platforms without you tilting the phone to move sideways

5. Player has an emotional attachment to the outcome

You get a sense of personal achievement when you complete levels.

When grown men kiss, hug and dance when they score

Getting competitive and shearing results with friends who playYou get a sense of personal achievement

6. Negotiable consequences for real life

Its a game, its self contained, you can walk away after you have played
