Major print, radio and TV outlets in Saskatoon will cover The Word Adverse in the Fesval Program, distributed throughout Saskatoon book stores, libraries, coffee shops, retailers and various literary arts organizations in September. Canada’s largest book and magazine festival, The Word On The Street is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to celebrating the written word and advocating for literacy. Held in five cities across Canada, the event is free to the public and draws more than 260,000 book lovers nationally in a single day.

Booksellers: Companies whose primary business is the retail of books and magazines.

Book Publishers & Distributors: Companies whose primary business is the publishing and/or distribution of books or electronic books.

Magazine/Newspaper Publishers & Distributors: Companies whose primary business is the publishing and/or distribution of print or electronic formats of one or more magazines or newspapers. A magazine is a printed and bound periodical (or e-magazine) available to the general public.

Self-publishers/Independent authors: Self-publishers are individuals who have produced a book at their own expense. Self-published authors are limited to selling their own work at the festival.

Arts Organizations: Entities that promote the arts.

Associations: Entities whose membership includes organizations or individuals from the book and magazine industry.

Libraries and Educational Institutes: Organizations that provide a service to the community and exhibit at The Word On The Street solely to market these services.

Literacy Organizations: Practicing non-profit or charitable organizations that provide literacy programs and/or services. To be eligible for free space, your organization must provide family literacy programs and/or services for adults and children. Space is limited and is distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis and subject to approval.

Book Related Vendors: Sellers of retail goods related to books.

Other: Special consideration will be given to exhibitors that do not fall within one of the categories above but may enhance the festival experience. Applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Board of Directors of WOTS Saskatoon.

All exhibitor applications must be approved by The Word On The Street Saskatoon Inc.

1. One Full Size Booth (FS) includes:200 sq. ft. of space, two 6’ tables, 2 chairs under a canopy.

2. One Micro Booth (MB) includes:100 sq. ft. of space, one 6’ table, 1 chair under a canopy. Ifyou choose to purchase an extra table, or bring your own,that second table must go behind the one we provide.

EXHIBITOR REGULATIONS

1. Exhibitors must set up between 7:00 and 9:00 am onSunday, September 24, 2017. Booths must be up andvehicles removed by 9:30 am.

2. The Exhibitor will keep the Exhibitor space open andstaffed at all times during the Festival. The Festivalreserves the right to restrict exhibits to a maximumnoise level and to suitable methods of operation anddisplay. The Festival reserves the right to relocateexhibits when, in its opinion, it is necessary to maintaingood order of the Festival.

3. Exhibitors agree to remove their exhibits from thefestival site by 6:00 pm the same day. If the exhibit isnot dismantled by this time, exhibitors will be billed forany extra costs incurred.

4. Be prepared: Dress accordingly! We can’t control theweather, and even on sunny days, exhibitors may bein the shade. Also, if it’s windy, you will want to bringpaperweights.

5. The Word On The Street Saskatoon does not providesignage for your booth. Booths will have numberedsigns on the booths that correspond to the listings onthe exhibitor map.

6. No merchandise, food or beverages shall be distributedat the Festival site without prior approval of The WordOn The Street Saskatoon.

7. All Exhibitor draws and promotional giveaways mustbe approved by The Word On The Street prior to theFestival and not require any financial obligation on thepart of the winner. Contest terms and conditions, and alist of all prizes with their value must be clearly posted.The Festival reserves the right to cease any draws thatdo not meet the above-mentioned criteria.

8. Exhibitors are responsible for collecting and baggingtheir own garbage/recycling and removing it at the endof the festival. Either put it in the large festival bins onsite or take it with you.

9. Although Exhibitor booths are sheltered and therewill be site security, exhibitors must insure themselvesand their property. The Word On The Street Saskatooncannot be held responsible for inclement weather andis not able to refund the exhibitor fee. If the Festivalshould be prevented from taking place by any cause

beyond the control of the Festival’s management, or if the Festival cannot permit the Exhibitors to occupy their rented space due to circumstances beyond its control including, but not limited to, strike, civil disobedience, lockouts, acts of God, acts or threats of terrorism, The Word On The Street Saskatoon’s management shall have no further obligation or liability to the Exhibitor.

10. The Word On The Street Saskatoon does not censorbooks or other materials displayed by the exhibitor.However, the laws of Canada apply. If for anyreason, an Exhibitor or its contents are deemed tobe objectionable by the Festival, the exhibit will beremoved without refund.

11. The Exhibitor agrees to abide by all by-laws, rules,directions, orders and regulations of the City ofSaskatoon, Saskatoon Police and Fire Department, andother municipal authorities and the Festival.

12. The Exhibitor agrees to indemnify and save harmlessThe Word On The Street Saskatoon, the City ofSaskatoon, and any other participants from and againstany direct or indirect loss or damage to personsor property caused by any act of the exhibitor, itsemployees, servants or agents. The Word On TheStreet Saskatoon shall not be held responsible forany direct or indirect loss or damage of any kind ornature, however caused, incurred by the Exhibitor,its employees, servants or agents, as a result of itsoccupation of exhibit space or other participation inthe Festival.

13. The Exhibitor shall not use or permit the use of TheWord On The Street’s name and/or logo withoutprior written approval by The Word On The StreetSaskatoon.

14. If the Exhibitor fails to conform to these requirements,The Word On The Street Saskatoon may terminatethis agreement without making any refund, and mayremove the Exhibitor, its employees, servants or agentsfrom the Festival and Festival grounds. The Word OnThe Street Saskatoon shall not be responsible fordirect or indirect loss or damage of any kind or natureincurred by the Exhibitor as a result of the Festival’stermination of this agreement.
