Background of the Selection

The 787 was evaluated by ANA’s New Aircraft Selection Committee on the

basis that the successor of 767-300 must be:

• Capable of carrying 300 passengers in a domestic

configuration

• Suitable for use on both domestic and international

routes, and achieve better reliability, economic

performance and comfort levels than 767-300

• In service by the start of airport expansion at Tokyo

International Airport during 2009 to 2013 and before

retirement of 767
