Freshman setter Kristina Giordano has settled into the starting rotation as the setter this season despite her youth and inexperience. This season she has posted 20 or more assists in all but two matches and has accummulated 30 or more assists in 10 matches. She handed out a career-high 47 helpers against Greensboro College and broke the 40-assist plateau again on Tuesday with 42 against Randolph College. She also has totaled six double-digit digs games with a career-high 17 against Bridgewater. For the season, Giordano is averaging 7.9 assists per game and 29.4 per match. Knights’ Previous Match: Southern Virignia ran its win streak to 10 matches with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-14) sweep at West Virginia Tech on Monday. The Knights improve to 18-8 with the victory. Southern Virginia has tallied seven sweeps during the 10-match win streak and nine total on the year. Samantha Sumsion led the Knights with 12 kills and a .391 hitting percentage. Alissa Morrison was also strong on the attack with eight kills and a .375 hitting percentage. Alison Hamilton dealt out 37 assists and had three aces and nine digs.

Blazers’ Previous Match: Hood College rallied from a two-set deficit to overtake Lancaster Bible College 3-2 Tuesday evening in non-conference action. After dropping the first two sets by close margins (25-23), Hood stormed back to capture the next two sets by scores of 25-17 and 25-20 to force a decisive fifth set. The Blazers outlasted the Chargers in the fifth set, 16-14, to end their four-match losing skid and snap Lancaster Bible’s six-match winning streak. Hood achieved several season-highs in the triumph. Kristina Straub notched her second double-double with 13 kills and 16 assists while Chelsea Weaver and Ashley Burns tallied eight kills apiece. Lena Bushrod had an outstanding defensive effort, amassing 36 digs, which is the third-highest single-match total in program history. Leah Garland set up 17 Blazer kills and served up three aces while Jamie Gardner chipped in seven kills and nine digs.
