• 1000 Zombies found on Google+• Artist Byron Rempel has launched a

project on Google+ called 1000 Zombies, which promises to produce his renderings of a thousand zombified portraits of Google+ users and their nominees. Rempel and I recently discussed the project via email. You can read an edited transcript of that discussion here and see a zombified me on the last slide.



Journey of a 1000 zombies begins with …

Rempel: “This one is the first zombie of the project. When I am done with all 1,000, I'm

going back to draw her again to see the improvement and/or

evolution of my art.”



A zombie’s best friend“This is my first zombie dog and

I had a mental breakthrough regarding my art process with this image. The dog's name is

Igor.”



How sweetRempel: “This is half of a couple I did, each had their own photo done. Putting them side by side the background forms a heart. This is also the one I started

doing more muscle and ligament detail.”



Payback’s a zombieRempel: Totally raged on this image ... it is a buddy of mine

that once teased me about how I used to draw in high school.

Those were darker days.



Variety is the spice of zombiesRempel: “These are the first

acrylic zombies of the series. I am hoping to change up

mediums or styles every 50 zombies or so, just to keep it

interesting.”



Among artist’s favoritesRempel: “One of my more

simplistic yet more powerful acrylic zombies so far. This is

one of my favorites.”



Releasing my inner zombieRempel: “And then there is

you ... lots of fun to do ... got a bit over ambitious with the

chin ... you are zombie #69.”
